So when installing Windows 7 When shutting down after installing updates it idles at "Logging off"

The thing is i can shut down my touch pad and my keyboard is gone. I can even turn the screen off by taping the power button and turn wireless off. Now i cant get the screen on due to keyboard being off but the hard drive is still running. It won't shut anything other than the wireless, keyboard and mouse and screen off.

I have a HP G60- 115EM.. Laptop.

Tobisha 120GB Hard drive.

It dosen't do this on windows vista. Only on 7. And it mainly happens when i leave a disk in the cd-drive or cancel a update when it frezes.

Solution
It sounds like you are experiencing issues with your HP G60-115EM laptop running Windows 7, particularly during shutdown after installing updates. The symptoms you described, such as the system idling at "Logging off" while certain components like the touchpad and keyboard become unresponsive, can be frustrating. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue: 1. Remove Disc from CD-Drive: - As you mentioned that this issue mainly happens when you leave a disk in the CD-drive, ensure that there are no discs left in the drive before shutting down the system. Having a disc in the drive could potentially cause the shutdown process to hang. 2. Perform a Clean Boot: - Perform a clean boot to start Windows...

Having a disc in the drive could potentially cause the shutdown process to hang. 2. Perform a Clean Boot: - Perform a clean boot to start Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This can help identify if a third-party application or service is causing the issue. 3. Check Windows Update Settings: - Ensure that your Windows Update settings are configured correctly. Sometimes, conflicts or errors in the update process can cause shutdown issues. 4. Check Device Manager for Errors: - Check Device Manager for any errors related to your keyboard or touchpad drivers. Update or reinstall the drivers if necessary. 5. Update Drivers: - Ensure that all your device drivers, especially for keyboard, touchpad, and other essential components, are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause shutdown problems. 6. Check for Malware: - Perform a full system scan for malware as malicious software can sometimes interfere with normal system operations, including shutdown. 7. Power Management Settings: - Check the power management settings to ensure that they are configured correctly. Incorrect settings may prevent the system from shutting down properly. 8. Hardware Check: - Consider running diagnostic tests on your hardware, especially the hard drive, to rule out any physical issues that could be causing the problem. By following these steps, you may be able to identify the root cause of the issue and resolve the shutdown problem on your Windows 7 system. If the issue persists, additional troubleshooting steps or professional assistance may be required.
