Windows 10 Windows 10 won't shut down

After the recent update (either on 10th or 24th of August, I can't remember, probably 24th) my computer won't shut down properly sometimes.

The screen will go dark and the keyboard and mouse lights will go off, but the chassis and CPU fans are still spinning and the computer LEDs are still on.

I already tried disabling fast startup under the power button settings but to no avail.

System specs:
Windows 10 Home x64 (build 14393) on a Kingston V300 480GB SSD
i7-6700K CPU
16GB DDR4 @ 2400MHz RAM
Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 Gaming GPU
ASUS Z170-PRO motherboard

This is a fresh Windows 10 installation from a USB media device and not an upgrade from 7/8, if that helps.

Thanks in advance for any guidance you guys can offer :(

Did you install W10 originally when you built the PC or did you upgrade from an earlier version of Windows? If so, which version; e.g.: Win7 or Win8x?

Hi all, thanks for the quick responses. I disabled EA Origin in my startup settings, since I noticed that Windows always mentioned that it was preventing shutdown when using Menu -> Shutdown. I did a few start up shutdown cycles to test it and it seems to be able to shutdown properly now.

I've got to leave the house now, I'll update if the problem arises again :)

Final solution?! !

I'm not sure if it's completely fixed, time will tell :D
