Windows 8 windows explorer won't search

Restart Windows Search Service:​

1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
2. Locate Windows Search in the Services window.
3. Right-click on Windows Search and select Restart.

   Rebuild Search Index:​

4. Press Win + R, type control, and press Enter.
5. Go to Indexing Options.
6. Click on Advanced.
7. In the Index Settings tab, click on Rebuild.

   Check Windows Search Settings:​

8. Go to Control Panel > Indexing Options.
9. Click on Modify and check if the folders you want to search in are selected.

   Run Windows Search Troubleshooter:​

10. Press Win + I, go to Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
11. Locate Search and Indexing and run the troubleshooter.

    Check Windows Search Service:​

12. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
13. Locate Windows Search, ensure it's set to Automatic, and is running.

    Check for Windows Updates:​

14. Ensure your system is up to date by installing the latest Windows updates.

    Perform SFC Scan:​

15. Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
16. Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.

    Check for System File Corruption:​

17. Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
18. Run the command DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth. After trying these steps, restart your computer and check if the Windows Explorer search is working properly. If the issue persists, this might require further troubleshooting or advanced system diagnostics.
