windows installation records out of date???

#1
I got this email today and before I go ahead and do what is asked clicking on email links, I want to know why I would do this ever, and is this a hoax a virus or an invitation for SPAM? I have automatic windows 7 updates ON all the time and get frequent updates that have nothing to do with my email accounts. What account would they suspend? I never get emails from Windows or Microsoft.
It has come to our attention that your Microsoft windows Installation records are out of date. Every Windows installation has to be tied to an email account for daily update.
This requires you to verify the Email Account. Failure to verify your records will result in account suspension. Click on the Verify button below and enter your login information on the following page to Confirm your records.

Sounds like a scam to me. Don't click on anything in that email.

Don't even open mails like this let alone respond to them. Many of them log whether or not you've opened it and so identify your level of susceptibility.
