Windows 7 Windows update not working...

After attempting to upgrade from win7 to win10 and
it failed I now cannot get update to work.

Whenever I open or reboot my laptop I then get a
message that I need to restart to finish installing
updates but of course it says the same the next
time.

This has the effect of not allowing further updates.

Is there a solution?

I had to run Windows6.1-KB947821-v34-x64 the readiness tool to fix a couple installs here. It take a long time to finish one took over 3 hours to complete.
