Windows XP XP Update 4/27/14?

Hello,

Our understanding no more updates to XP, however we received a automatic update on 4/27/14. See below log. Did MS change their minds because of the MS IE security issue today?

KB955759 is a legit XP update but very old (2009). Microsoft is no longer issuing new updates. I'm not aware of whether old ones are still available from the update web site. The log doesn't show it being downloaded, just installed. It's possible that it was downloaded long ago and something just triggered the installation.

Fired up my old beater XP laptop today and nope no updates.
Will check again May 13th just for kicks.

Something is going on. AGAIN 5-3-2014 yet another WIN update ran. This can't be 2 of the same anomaly's a week apart.

You're right, something is going on and it is an anomaly, but a different one, which in this case is good. After swearing it would send out no more updates for XP, Microsoft relented with a special exception. This is the fix for the nasty security hole in Internet Explorer that's been in the news.
