The user "blaa123" is frustrated because a Windows spell checker that enabled itself unexpectedly continues to underline words, assuming they are in German, despite attempts to disable it through language settings, group policy, and registry edits. They seek help to fully turn off the feature, feeling unable to stop the underlining. Hi,

so after 2,5 years of running this PC without it a couple of weeks ago the spell checker feature simply enabled itself somehow and I can.not turn the damn thing off again.
It highlights every word in certain programs and websites like Steam or Link Removed. Here it is turned off, using Firefox.
I mostly type in English and it underlines every single word in those programs since it is convinced I should be typing German. It drives me MAD to write emails and forum posts with every word underlined red. Here is what I tried:

- turned it off in the settings obviously

- as a compromise tried BOTH changing my region and display language to English. Nope, still convinced every non-German word is wrong. What?!

- tried gpedit from this thread:

Had to install gpedit.msc and changed it there, nope.

Downloaded a file from some site (can´t find it right now) that was supposed to make changes to regedit to turn it off, nope.

It makes me so angry I´m close to throwing my PC out of the window.

Please, any help?

Settings>Language>Spelling, typing, & keyboard settings. There is SPELLING, TYPING, HARDWARE-KEYBOARD.

Adjust to your heart's content.
