Ubuntu 10.04 First Thoughts - Quandy Factory
1 Boot Time ↑
This is the most immediate, obvious improvement in 10.04. True to their commitment, the Ubuntu developers have made big strides in shaving as much as they can off startup and shutdown times.
Startup is visibly faster than 9.10...
Can someone please take a peek at my bootlog below and let me know if there is anything that may be causing the boot time to be VERY SLOW. It's so slow that you need to measure how long it takes on a geological timeline (you know the one that has a caveman on one end and an astronaut on the...

This is a round up of processes, services and features that I have turned off. I have tested these for months under Windows 7. My system is faster and stable and has far less overhead than the day I installed Windows 7. My boot time as recorded by BootRacer is down to 17...

Running Windows 7 Home Premium on the Toshiba T110/00D, and despite using msconfig to stop some of the many programs from loading up at boot time, I still find that it boots up in 2 minutes, which is still pretty slow for me. I was just wandering what else I can do to speed Windows 7 up...

OK, It's in! I used Paul Thurrott's procedure and everything just worked. Blew away the Lenovo Vista Ultimate 32 bit partitions and expanded freed up space into 1 320GB partition now running W7 Pro 64 bit. I plan on shrinking the 320 down create a data drive / partition later. So now that it's...
I upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista and I have noticed the boot time is slower than it was with Vista. I tested my bootup time through a program and it took 194 seconds for my comp to boot up.
My question is would making a clean install of Windows 7 solve this problem and make boot up times much...

Hi guys,
I have a brand new Acer Dual core 64x Laptop running with 3gb RAM.
I have just done a clean install of Win7 (not upgrade). First boot was a while but I guessed that was because the operating system was setting up. I then ran the Updates from IE8. Now when I reboot it just takes...
I have upgraded from Vista to Windows 7! The question that I would like to ask is how come the start up process takes so long from time I logon until the programs are loaded?Link Removed
FYI: On two different Dell laptops which were recently upgraded to win7 HP from vista, I deleted the digital line detector program (dlg.exe) from the startup folder and saw a vast improvement in the time it takes to boot the system. If your system takes forever to boot, you might try this.
I have extremely slow shutdown and boot-up speeds. I'm using windows 7 home premium with intel dual core. I have 4gb ram on a 32 bit system. Don't know what I'm doing wrong, but have collected some info from the event viewer. I would appreciate any advice. My average boot time is taking...
I'm running windows 7 RC and in the event viewer I get Error ID 100 associated with EVERY boot up for my pc since I built it (3 months ago. never looked before cause it works fine. looked out of curiosity this time) and error ID 200 for every shutdown. I'm wondering if anyone every/has this and...
