Okay, since there are many questions on this topic, none exactly the same as mine, I'd like to make myself perfectly clear.
I know about Default Programs, and I know about Autoplay settings in the Control Panel.
What I want to achieve is use Media Player Classic (comes with the K-Lite codec...

I took some videos on my iPhone 4S which I wanted to transfer to my Windows 8.1 laptop. I did it in the usual way where I connect it to USB, go into the device on My PC and drag/copy the videos over to another folder. The videos won't play, however. Whenever I try to play them (default through...

My problem is that I've long shared certain PC internal directories with other LAN PC's (XP and 7) and it works great. However, I needed more space and have just moved several of those directories to external storage (NexStar HX4 w/ USB 3.0 connection) and it appears to be working fine except...
When I use the Windows 7 option to convert .wtv to .dvr-ms the converted .dvr-ms files are much shorter in length than the original .wtv files, e.g. a .wtv file with a length of 2:35:58 will be converted to a .dvr-ms file with a length of 29:35.
To troubleshoot this I tested a few .wtv files...
Archiving using Winrar produces a file of exactly the same size as does sending to a compressed zipped folder.. am I just using the wrong settings..? (I've tried multiple) or do I need a specific utility for this..?
Thanks.
I have reorganized the directories in my storage system so the links in my Windows Media Library are invalid. I went to WML > Tools > Options > Libray and changed the Folder. That didn't remove the contents already in the library so I removed Windows Media Player. Then I reinstalled it and found...
My laptop hard drive failed and the local repair shop couldn’t salvage it so I had them install a 120GB SSD. Everything worked great. Thought I could DIY and install a 2nd 1TB HD to hold all my media files, keeping SSD for system files and favorite programs. I got it up and running but not...
I just wanted to see if there were a way to view all video's without having to actually open the file. For example, once you click on a video file, to the right a window pops up automatically and you can play the video without having to open the file. Some clips allow me to preview the video's...
I am having a problem with displaying media file tags in Windows Explorer and am trying to make sure that this DLL is present and registered as it should be. But I can't find out what the status is supposed to be for Win8. 64 bit.
Should it be present, if so in what directory?
What's the...
This is a new one for me. I downloaded a zip file that I need to rollback a media player to it original firmware. I know how to do it using a usb drive. The problem is that the .bin file I need access to, when it is extracted from the zip file is a media file (VLC). On its properties page it...
Wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to fix a new issue my NAS drive has thrown up.
My NAS is used only for storage of files, most of them being media files in various formats (DVD, avi, MPEG etc). We basically have this instead of a massive DVD shelving unit! The media is streamed...

I have two partitions on my harddrive, one for the OS files and programs(labelled C), and the other for media and audio files(labelled F). Since I have multiple users, I made a folder for each user on the F drive to store the audio files. How can I make it so only each user can modify/add/delete...
