Hello, I am a new user to windows 7. I have used XP but skipped Vista. I am wondering what is the difference of "Program Files" and "Program Filesx86"? Most of my files download onto Program Files x86. Thanks:p
I upgraded from VISTA Biz 64bit to Win7 Prof 64bit. As instructed, I uninstalled iTunes before the upgrade and reinstalled it afterwards. Since then iTunes insists on running in XP SP3 compatibility mode. In the program properties the compatibility checkbox is off, but the XP SP3 is visible and...
I'd like to install Windows 7 from the 32-bit Vista-to-7 Upgrade CD.
Currently my Program Files exist on a partition separate from that which contains my OS files. If possible, I'd like to leave things as they are (reinstalling my programs would take quite awhile). When I run the Upgrade...
I would like to un-protect a specific file in a Program Files (x86) subfolder, which the system will not allow me to change without requiring administrative approval (UAC). Is this possible? The file is C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref\Firefox.js, and I need the system login...
I was attempting to instal and mod the game Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion from Bethesda softworks, and was having problems with it, so I decided to statover. I ran all of the relevant uninstalls (the oriignals games, the expansion, the mods) but there is still a bethesda folder in my program files...

I recently upgraded from XP to OS 7 on a computer. I have all my programs on a seperate D: drive. How do you associate them in the Program files? I really don't want to reinstall all of the programs.
I plan to run windows 7 Professional on my pc. I had an idea that i would install it on a small 80 Gb HD and then install most of my programs to a separate, much larger, HD. If i do this, will windows be able to cope with the file structure as both my 32 & 64 bit programs will be installed to...
I've been using Windows 7 for a few months with no issues at all. However, in the last week or two, I've been experiencing the BSoD quite regularly (5 times in the last two week). It has generally been fine after I restarted it.
Today, I tried to open an application (Photoscape) which I have...
I installed Win7 on my computer by installing on a 'new' hard drive, after removing the drive that housed XP. Is there a simple way to transer certain program files and settings to W7 without buying a specialty program? I didn't know about the "Windows Easy Transfer" before I installed W7, so...
I use Vista 32 business SP2.
When I copy a file to program files folder replacing old file the file date is changed but the contain is ever the same!
Why is possible?

Having issues with upgrade from Vista to 7 (both Ultimates). Upgrade did complete however explorer is hanging anytime I touch a folder related to the desktop. Also, program files contains no icons, just white rectangles. Funny thing is if I boot in safe mode everything appears to work fine...

Is it possible to transfer program files to another. Since i have a full licenced copy of Tune-up utilities on vista and i have no more licences left and i want it on 7.
Also i hardly use my vista and its pointless now. Is there a way where i copy all the program file folder of it and move it...
I just upgraded my iTunes to the newest version and had no problems. Today I start iTunes and get the following error: "The iTunes application could not be opened. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."
If I go to 'Programs Files (x86)\iTunes' and 'right click' on the...
Hi all
If you are like me and HATE webmail based stuff you can still use the VISTA Windows Mail in both 64 and 32 bit versions.
(If you have OUTLOOK then you don't need to do this).
Also an advantage with this is that you can get your old VISTA email into W7 without any problems.
what you...
Hey W7F,
I am using Build 7022 of Win7. I had some guests stay at my house, so I locked Guests from accessing specific Program Files. Now, Iwant to remove the programs (adobe CS4) altogether, and Adobe uninstaller crashes under any user, including admin. So I think, i'll just manually...
I had win7 32 bit installed. then wanted to try the 64 bit. I now have 2 Program File-folders 1 called
Program File the other Program File (x86) and it seems that everthing I install is going into the (x86) folder.
is this normal?
