I have a Lenovo laptop running fully up=to-date Windows 10 Pro and within the last month the laptop has stopped writing to SDCard informing me that they are write protected. This happens with standard size sdcards amd micro sdcards.
I have checjed, many times. that the write-protect switch on...

I moved files onto an external disk.
During the move, the data suddenly vanished.
It was nowhere. Not on the target drive, not on the origin.
What happened?
How do I get the data back?

A surface test of my hard disk with some partition tools showed one or more bad sectors.
How can I find out exactly which of my files allocated space these bad sectors in the past?
....and which are now corrupted?
I have heard that a "chkdsk" run could repair/exclude these bad sectors...
Apparently, a windows.old folder was created last night at around 11pm (I had no idea).
I noticed I have increased HDD activity, and I was wondering why's that. Then windows said my boot disk space is running low, so I went to 'My Computer' and noticed a large chunk of my second HDD space is...
On one of my (older) computers there is a defect sector on the hard disk.
Checking the surface of the hard disk shows a red square for it.
It seems to me that all the "usual" reserve sectors are already in use.
Every thing else works on this computer. No unusual noise comes from the hard disk...

Hi,
I seen a few posts relating to disks with less space than anticipated - but think I have gone through the suggestions.
I have an older ACER X1301 which has been upgraded to W8 then W10 and with an SSD instead of the HDD. When I installed the SSD I thought I had a 'C' drive with approx...

The free space in my drive keeps shrinking though I haven't installed any new legal software in it.
Is this a Vista OS problem, or is this some sort of malware or virus engineered to scrape data fragments off my system drive?
What are the fixes for the above two scenarios?
Hello. So, I have this 2 TB HDD and up until about a week ago Windows 10 stopped detecting it. I connected it to my laptop also running Windows 10 and reformatted it to FAT32. Was that the ring thing to do or should I have formatted it to NTSF? Windows 10 (this computer) still can't detect the...

My question is, this will probably break something, so what steps should I take to fix things up after I delete and move stuff around like that?
My computer (ACER) has windows 10. Mid-last week, overnight, the windows updated by itself. The entire format of my computer change and my documents were all moved around. I generally keep most of my documents on the desktop, which was now moved into another separate folder that I had to find. I...

Hi all,
I have been trying to remove this hard drive as there are no longer any files on it. But it appears that some part of the boot process happens on this drive?
Once I remove the drive windows fails to boot up.
How do I move the boot manager off the I drive and on to the c drive?

I have been attempting to create a recovery flash drive but each time I try it fails with the message unable to complete – I have tried three 8 GB drives and one 16 GB, I have tried both the front and rear usb sockets on the desktop. Maybe it is significant – I have had more BSODs since I...

Does anyone know how long repair-bde takes to run? I have been running it on an 1TB external HD for about 16 hours now. Attached is a screenshot what I am seeing. Should I keep it going?
I just reformatted my system drive and reinstalled Windows 8.1 yesterday. The only software I've installed so far is Chrome and Steam (just the Steam app, no games). But for some reason I'm using up 80 GB of space on my system drive. Windows can't possibly be using that much space, right? I...

I just found a huge Windows 10 flaw and it has impact on File History, too.
All us previous Windows users that login with a Microsoft Account have all noticed how Windows 10 names our user accounts after our Microsoft Account.
I just noticed this flaw in File History.
In previous Windows...

So, when I ordered my computer I saw that I'd have 1TB of storage. I see that the default area where things are installed (C:\) only consists of 149 GB total, while the Data (D:\) drive has a total of 780 GB. I'd like to move some files over there, but I'm not sure what I should do. I would also...

Windows 10 created a drive "E" for data, that is completely full, but I have not put anything on it. I am getting warnings that this data drive is out of space.

For The Windows 8 "Storage Space" Pools, am I correct that choosing the "Simple/Resiliency" type of Pool will allow me to add more disks in the future when I buy them without any issues. I know that if you choose any of the "parity" types to create the Pool, you run the risk of having problems...
