I successfully created a 100GB hard drive and then successfully detached it. I was under the assumption that this process would create a virtual hard drive from some where other than my C drive. Hence virtual, and not take physical space from a real drive. I was totally disappointed and for me...
Hello,
Is it possible to boot into a Win 2008 Server VHD from Windows 7?
I think this is an ideal scenario for developers..Can i simply use a Win 2008 Server VHD that someone else has created?
How will this work? Thanks
I converted an Acronis True Image .tib image file from an old computer into a .vhd file. I then attached the .vhd file in Windows 7 on a new computer. I can use the files from the attached .vhd file which are now on a virtual drive.
Is there any way to get selected files from the virtual...
I converted an Acronis True Image .tib file to a .vhd file. It is now on my Windows 7 hard drive. When I go to Windows 7 Backup & Restore, the .vhd file cannot be found.
Supposedly, I can mount this .vhd file. How do I do it. Thanks.
A few weeks ago I replaced my work PC with a new one running Windows 7. Recreating my work environment was annoying and took days, trying to make sure I haven't forgotten anything.
Today I found out about a tool called disk2vhd, from the great Sysinternals. The tool can create a virtual disk...
Can i share data between my VHD ( WinXP ) which created within Win7 , and the host (physical disk with Win7 OS ) ?
If positive, how ?
Thanks in advance

Windows 7 System Image
Windows 7 has a feature called "System Image" to backup and recover the entire system. The image is compressed. You need a separate partition on your hard drive or a secondary hard drive.
Windows 7 System Image does NOT create a bootable drive... nor does it include...

I have been running beta and RC versions of Windows 7 x64 for about 9 months now.
A few weeks ago, I needed to run a seperate copy of Win7 on the same machine so I decided to take the VHD route. I.e. booting directly into a VHD. The means to do this were well documented by Aviraj Ajgekar's...
The title pretty much says it all. I had an .iso file of windows 7 that I installed to a virtual drive. Since that time the drive has crashed and all I could retrieve is a .vhd file of windows 7. I there anything I can do to make this .vhd drive of 7 boot up and load windows7? I know the...
It's a long story, guys, so I'll spare you. Suffice it to say that I no longer have the .iso file of Windows7 that I downloaded from Microsoft. And as you all well know, Microsoft is no longer offering the download. What I do have is a .vhd file of this. Im not sure what exactly it is...

the latest of a long series of leaks is Windows 7 Build 7260 which made its way on the Internet just yesterday. The build is available as a 32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate VHD image (virtual hard drive image) with the build string 6.1.7260.0.win7_rtm.090612-2110 which...
Many of you have downloaded VHD files (expecting ISO or not knowing what to do with them)
Here's a link on how to convert a VHD to an ISO (providing you already have Windows 7).

So, I heard from someone who usually has access to builds that there will be another x64 build coming tomorrow. All I know so far is that it is not 7231, but probably a bit later than that. I have no idea yet if it will be ISO or VHD, we'll just have to wait and see.
Look what I just found. Im not going to bother with this one, but I have links I can PM if any body is interested.
Remember, this is not in ISO format and is for installing virtually. *EDIT* there is an ISO out now in x86.
