Hello recently I bought a new computer,no warranty sadly. It's a Dell Inspiron 580 i5 650 Nvidia 220 750GB(I replaced the original 1 TB Hard drive with 750 to sell my other computer better),and 8GB of ram.I have been having these errors mostly when playing games like From Dust and Mafia 2.I have the dmp file and everything, please help and hopefully it is the drivers which I read was because of the dmp error I had.I really don't want it to be the CPU.Hopefully you guys will be able to help me fix this! Thanks!

Ok , Stop code 124 i believe is usually hardware , so were looking at more hardware side rather than a software issue

Are u overclocking? if you are, STOP all overclocking

1st thing
download a program called Memtest86+

this program will test your ram for faults

Take all the ram out of your pc except one,

stop at 7 passes ( the pass count in the middle not the top)

OR

untill you get errors ( red lines accross lower part of screen) + error count will increase

which ever comes first

if the RAM passes then this is ok, if the ram fails then put this to the side

You need to check all RAM you have and do the same as above

7 passes may take a few hours so be patient :)

also
download a program called CPU-Z

once installed please take pictures of each tab, CPU,MEMORY Etc, this is so we can look at the various setup i.e volatages, ram timings etc

Thanks, somebody at Yahoo Answers said it could be my hard drive that I replaced with.So I'm changing it back to the original and formatting it.I'll try the memory tests after im done with this.

EDIT:Changing the hard drive did nothing so I'm going for memtest86 now.

1.png2.png3.png4.png5.png6.pngOk i have the screencaps of CPU-Z with every tab except I didn't do every ram because they're all the same except for their serial numbers.Ill be back with the results from memtest.

MemTest didn't detect anything D:

ok to check

you had stick number 1, put this is slot 1 then ran the memtest for 7 passes ( the passes are in the middle not the top) then put the same stick in slot 2 , same again for 7 passes , then moved to slot 3 then 4, then did the same process with the rest of your sticks??

to add , the first CPUz pic, shows the Vcore votage. this is WAY too high, lower the votage to 1.4 volts please

Hi your core voltage is way too high. Go into your bios and set optimized defaults. Do this before anything else. Hopefully you haven't damaged you cpu.

Well I don't think my CPU can Over-Clock.I've changed the Bios settings to default but how do I change the voltage lower?I got this computer used. Thanks!

The voltage has been changed at some stage since the amount of volts that has been set can damage your pc,

if you enter the bios ( start pc , hold Delete or an on prompt option to say enter bios )

in one of the menu's u will see " LOAD DEFAULT SETTINGS" or something along them lines

save and start pc back up

POST CPUZ AFTER YOU HAVE DONE THIS PLEASE

ok we need to reflash the bios

Link Removed - Invalid URL

make sure u select the correct version I.E 32BIT OR 64BIT

select bios
download the A07 version (only one to select )

run file and flash away :)

When flashing your BIOS be sure to have a backup, restore point, and an OS dvd.

A 124 BC is hardware btw, so I wonder the efficacy of the BIOS flashing.

Your .dmp file shows a stop error of 0x124 which is a general hardware error .

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.

Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress.

You can read more on this error and what to try here... Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try - Windows 7 Forums

looking at the Voltage for the CPU is way too high, becauswe its a dell this has a locked bios,he cannot change the voltage manually so by flashing the bios may solve it

I've found with 0x124 that sometimes it's caused by too much or too little vcore. I also noticed in the cpu-z shot1 that the ops vcore is over 2v when the max vcore for that chip is 1.4 at most. The nonimal vcore is under 1.2V. I suggested to Kaos lowering the vcore could help as at the moment it's definitely too high.

I'm amazed it's still running if that voltage is being reported correctly.

To the op, if you go into your bios, if there's a pc health or monitoring section it may also tell you your vcore and temperatures. Could you post it's values here please.

Uh how do I re flash it?When I go to install the newest BIOS driver ,it tells me it's same or better and I can't do anything.

Ok not sure if this with work,Copy the bios exe file to the root of C: open a command prompt with admin rights. in the black cmd window type cd \ and then type the name of the exe and add /forcetype to the end and press return. If it works excellent if not get back to me and we'll have another go at figuring it out.

Thanks man.this forum rocks! The people here are so helpful!Hopefully we can fix my computer

Thank you we do try our best to be as helpful as possible and thats the plan :)
