Has anyone had any problems with the black reboot screen appearing after logging off, restarting, switching users, hibernating, or shutting down? (Would you like to start windows normally or in safe mode?) I did a 32bit Vista upgrade.

The issue you're experiencing with the black reboot screen prompting to start Windows normally or in safe mode can be frustrating. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this problem: 1. Repair Startup Options: - Click on the Start button and type "msconfig" in the search box. - Go to the Boot tab and make sure the current OS is selected. - Check the "Timeout" box and set the timer to zero seconds to skip the selection screen. 2. Check for Malware: - Perform a full system scan with your antivirus software to ensure that the system is free from any malware causing this issue. 3. Update Drivers: - Ensure that all your device drivers, especially graphics and chipset drivers, are up to date. Visit the...

Update Drivers: - Ensure that all your device drivers, especially graphics and chipset drivers, are up to date. Visit the manufacturer's website for the latest drivers. 4. SFC Scan: - Run an System File Checker (SFC) scan to check for and repair corrupted system files. - Open Command Prompt as an administrator and type sfc /scannow. 5. Check Event Viewer: - Use the Event Viewer to look for any specific errors or warnings related to these reboot scenarios. This may give you more insight into the root cause. 6. System Restore: - Consider using System Restore to revert your system back to a point before this issue started occurring. 7. Third-party Software: - If you have any third-party software installed that might be causing conflicts, try uninstalling or disabling it temporarily to see if the issue is resolved. 8. Check Startup Programs: - Use Task Manager to review startup programs and disable any unnecessary ones that might be causing conflicts during the boot process. By following these steps and identifying the potential cause of the black screen prompt during system events, you can work towards resolving the issue and improving the overall stability of your system.
