In the past I've post an issue I had were I was getting a B(Blue)SOD but now
this is something different, I hope.

When I launch either of 2 games (Borderlands and The Secret World), after a
while, the screen will go dark and most of the time I'll hear a high pitched
wine, I'll restart the PC and everything is usually good. I say usually because
in the last 2 days, when booting up, I'll get to the screen that says "Starting
windows" or the desktop is about to be displayed and the screen goes dark.

The SSD firmware has been updated to the latest; I worked with Kingston to do
this. In the BIOS, the drive is configured to use Raid (XHD) and the drive is
physically connected to the SATA3 port.

I have tried physically connecting it to a SATA2 for the firmware upgrade
along with changing from Raid (XHD) to ACHI to IDE. When I run the program
Speccy, it says that the status of S.M.A.R.T is bad and running Crystal Disk
Info, it says Unknown for the disk health and other fields.

Solution
It sounds like you're facing some issues related to your SSD and potential hardware configurations. Let's address each part of your message:

1. SSD Issues:

  • High-Pitched Whine and Screen Going Dark: This could indicate a hardware issue, possibly with your SSD or other components.
  • SMART Status: The SMART status of your drive being reported as "bad" in Speccy and displaying as "Unknown" in Crystal Disk Info is a cause for concern. It suggests potential problems with the drive.

2. RAID Configuration:

  • BIOS Configuration: You mentioned that the drive is configured in RAID (XHD) mode in the BIOS. If you switched between RAID, AHCI, and IDE modes, it could impact how the drive is recognized...

1. SSD Issues:

  • SMART Status: The SMART status of your drive being reported as "bad" in Speccy and displaying as "Unknown" in Crystal Disk Info is a cause for concern. It suggests potential problems with the drive.

2. RAID Configuration:

  • BIOS Configuration: You mentioned that the drive is configured in RAID (XHD) mode in the BIOS. If you switched between RAID, AHCI, and IDE modes, it could impact how the drive is recognized and used by the system.

    Steps to Take:

    1. Check Hardware Connections:
      • Ensure all connections to the SSD are secure.
      • Try connecting the SSD to different SATA ports to rule out any port-related issues.
      []Backup Critical Data:
      • Backup any important data from your SSD immediately to prevent data loss.
      [
      ]Software Checks:
      • Run a thorough antivirus scan to rule out any malware issues.
      • Update your graphics drivers and check for any pending Windows updates.
      []SSD Health Check:
      • Use a reliable tool like Crystal Disk Info or HD Tune to assess the health of your SSD more comprehensively.
      [
      ]SSD Firmware:
      • If the firmware update didn't resolve the SMART status issue, consider contacting Kingston again or the drive manufacturer for further assistance.
    2. Reevaluate RAID Configuration:
      • Depending on your usage and configuration, it might be beneficial to revisit the RAID settings on your system.

        Additional Considerations:

        • If you continue to experience issues, it might be prudent to seek professional assistance for a more in-depth hardware inspection.
        • Providing additional details about your system specs (e.g., motherboard model, SSD model) can help in offering more tailored advice.
Feel free to provide more information if needed to assist you further with resolving these issues.
