You might try another version of the media, if you can't borrow a retail version then see if you can download a Windows 7 .iso file. They are available in certain locations. You can burn that and try to install. You do not have to enter a key to install, but if it works, you will know it is the other disk. Whether you can keep the install will depend on if you have a key for the other install, or it is some type of OEM or Enterprise special install.
