Hi Normanus and Welcome to The Forum.

STOP 0x000000F4: CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION
Usual causes:
???

Your latest dump file lists ??? as the probable cause.
Old and incompatible drivers can and do cause issues with Windows 7, often giving false error codes. Random stop codes can often indicate hardware issues.

As a Priority:

ASACPI.sys Mon Mar 28 03:30:36 2005 This driver is notorious for causing BSOD's. You have two options:
  • You can disable the ATK0110 ACPI Utility in the DeviceManager (under System Devices) with no apparent issues. OR (and if disabling does cause issues)
  • There is an update here: Asus ATK0110 driver. Look under the sub-heading: Utilities. 12th one down.

Driver Install - Manual method

  1. Download the driver and extract it to a folder.
  2. Open the Device Manager.
  3. Right click the device you wish to change the drivers for. You can select Properties > Driver > Driver Details to check you have the right device. In this case System Devices >> ATK0110 ACPI Utility
  4. Choose Update Driver Software.
  5. Select Browse My Computer For Driver Software.
  6. Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
  7. Select Have disk...
  8. Select Browse..
  9. Navigate to the extracted folder and double click on the .inf file
  10. Hit OK, then Next and the driver(s) will then begin to install.
  11. After it has installed, GoTo C:\Windows\System32\Drivers. Locate the Asacpi.sys driver, right click it and check the dates under its properties. You're looking for a "Modified" date of 2009 or 2010. Occasionally it can be a bit stubborn to change.

There have been 11 updates to your bios of which "improve system stability" is only one of the mods.

Drivers that pre-date Windows 7. Update:

Alpham164.sys Mon Jul 23 08:57:03 2007
Alpham264.sys Tue Mar 20 09:51:03 2007
Ideazon ZBoard/Ideazon Fang MM USB HID driver

GEARAspiWDM.sys Mon May 18 13:17:04 2009 Gear Software CD-ROM Class Filter Driver v4.019.1 (Oct 2011). Also loads with iTunes

Drivers with Updates:

Rt64win7.sys Fri Jun 10 07:33:15 2011 Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller v7.049 If you're unsure about manually installing drivers then choose the Win7 and WinServer 2008 R2 Auto Installation Program (SID:1477671) option to download.

Hi again,

Thank you Elmer for helping me out with this! I updated the drivers and uninstalled the ATK0110 ACPI Utility as you suggested but the problem remains...

I'm attaching the latest minidump, I hope someone can think of an alternative solution to this very annoying problem. Thanks in andvance for any input!

/Norm

Hi Norm.

STOP 0x000000F4: CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION
Usual causes:
???

I really think you need to update your bios. There have been a few updates since your version. Just the latest addresses:
1. Improve memory compatibility
2. Improve system stability
3. Update CPU Level up function
4. Update Marvell Option ROM
5. Support new CPUs. Please refer to our website at: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- CPU Support

You also have (mixed) ram in all four slots. Ideally your Ram should be matched. Same Manufacturer, Type, Model, Size, Batch, Timings, Etc.. Preferably bought as a matched set. Is it on your Motherboards QVL list or is your Motherboard on the RAMs QVL list? Are they 'paired' correctly in your Mobo slots?
You may have to up your rams vcore voltage slightly as all the slots are occupied.

Drivers that still require attention:

Alpham164.sys Mon Jul 23 08:57:03 2007
Alpham264.sys Tue Mar 20 09:51:03 2007
Ideazon ZBoard/Ideazon Fang MM USB HID driver

GEARAspiWDM.sys Mon May 18 13:17:04 2009 Gear Software CD-ROM Class Filter Driver v4.019.1 (Oct 2011). Also loads with iTunes

RzSynapse.sys Wed Apr 21 08:53:21 2010 Razer Synapse Engine/Razer Naga

Hi again,

Many thanks for being so patient Elmer. Today I updated the BIOS and the drivers that needed updating. Nothing changed, I still get the same BSOD and the same error code.

About a year ago I installed an additional 4Mb of RAM and since I couldn't find the exact type that was already installed I got another brand. Not ideal but at least I checked compability in advance. At the same time I changed my graphics card to a better one, followed the instructions from A to Z and it was all good. The BSOD problems started almost a year after this but since nothing else works maybe this is relevant information.

What is left to do now is to run Memcheck 86 I guess, not looking forward to checking the memories one by one and running the program over and over again...

I will let you know what happens of course, in case you or anyone else come up with anything else I attached the latest dump file. Talk to you again soon!

/Norm

Can you:

Download TDSSKiller.

Download the correct Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper for your 32 or 64bit system.

Mount MSSS to CD / USB flash drive. Make sure the CD/DVD drive / USB drive is set to boot first in the bios, re-start and run the system sweeper.

When finished with MSSS, Re -start PC into Safe Mode and run the TDSSKiller tool.

Hi Elmer,

I did as you said resulting in the detection of two different viruses: Rogue:Win32/Winwebsec and Exploit: Java/CVE-2011-3544.H.

Unfortunately the removal of the viruses did not solve my BSOD problem. Many thanks for your help, I'm attaching the latest dump file should it have any importance.

Normanus:
You still have two very old drivers on your system
Alpham164.sys 7/23/2007
and
Alpham264.sys 3/20/2007
I would suggest, at least for now and perhaps temporarily addressing this issue. Either by updating the associated software / driver package, uninstalling the associated software / driver package and removing the device(s) from your system or as a last resort perhaps searching for the drivers (probably C:\Windows\System32\Drivers but may also be elsewhere) and renaming them from Alpham164.sys and Alpham264.sys to Alpham164.OLD and Alpham264.OLD respectively. This should stop the drivers from loading. Easily done and easily reversed if they do not prove to be at issue.

Randy

Hi Trouble,

Problem solved! Like you suspected, it was the qwrtaw5.exe (trojan) that was causing my BSOD problem. Microsoft Security Essentials didn't recognize it as a dangerous file but Malwarebytes did. After removing it I had my first clean restart in a long time.

Many thanks to Elmer and Troble for helping me out with this, I really appreciate it!

Love,

Norm

Hey Norm, glad to hear that you have managed to resolve you problem. Thanks for posting back and updating your thread with the solution that worked for you.
Gotta love MalwareBytes, I actually spent the money for the pro version and have it running all the time now.
Thanks for joining our community and we hope to continue to see you around the forum.
