my son has just bought a new computer with Windows 7 version. He is linked to my broadband connection via a wireless router.
Am I able to put a password system in so that I can control his internet connecting. It currently connects automatically.

Solution
To restrict your son's internet access on his Windows 7 computer connected to your broadband via a wireless router, you can set up parental controls or change the Wi-Fi password to control his access. Here are steps you can take to achieve this:

Setting up Parental Controls on Windows 7:

  1. Create a New User Account:
    • Create a new user account for your son on the Windows 7 computer if he doesn't already have one. You can set up a Standard User account for him.
    []Enable Parental Controls:
    • Go to Control Panel -> User Accounts and Family Safety -> Parental Controls.
    • Select your son's user account and turn on Parental Controls.

    ]Set Internet Restrictions:
    • You can control the time your son spends on the computer and the programs he can access.
    • Under Parental Controls, you will find options to manage web filtering, time limits, game restrictions, and app usage.

Changing the Wi-Fi Password on the Router:

    []Access the Router Settings:
    • Open a web browser and enter the router's IP address (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) in the address bar.
    • Enter the username and password for the router (default credentials are often found on the router sticker).
    [
    ]Change Wi-Fi Password:
    • Locate the Wireless or Security settings in the router admin interface.
    • Look for the option to change the Wi-Fi password (sometimes called the passphrase or security key).
  2. Save Changes:
    • Once you change the password, save the settings. All devices connected to the router will need to re-enter the new password to reconnect.

      Additional Tip:

    • If you want even more control, you can consider using third-party parental control software that provides more advanced features and monitoring options. By implementing these steps, you can manage your son's internet access by either applying parental controls on his Windows 7 computer or by changing the Wi-Fi password on the router to control his internet connection.
