Windows 7 DNS server not responding?

Hi I am having the same type of issue as everyone else. I tried looking at some of the different issues and trying to figure it out for myself but I didn't want to change something and make it worse.
Right now I have internet access but it is extremely slow compared to what I normally receive. Yesterday Hydro shut the power off to do maintenance. and now I receive this error message (Your computer appears to be correctly configured but the device or resource (DNS) is not responding.) Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Goto Network and sharing center, change adapter settings, right click on wifi adapter, select properties, Internet Protocol Version 4, Check the option to Use the following DNS server address. Set it to 10.0.0.1 and click on ok.

Seems I can post my problem here... if not I hope it's not too much of bother I put it in the wrong place.
Right So my desktop just stopped suddenly stopped working all of sudden and my LAN network is saying unidentified network and chrome says it's because the DNS lookup failed. I looked up just about everything I could on ways to fix it and nothing has worked that's why I'm asking here.

My mother's laptop and my Kindle still has internet and both are connected to the same router as my desktop which uses a wired connection.

I looked up my ipconfig /all thing but can you tell me which parts you need because I have to put in by hand on my Kindle and doing the whole thing would be incredibly annoying.

Never mind my last post. I'm sure I have it fixed now. I can post what was wrong and how I fixed it in case some random person happens to have the same problem as me stumbles upon this thread like me.

Hi everyone, I have a DNS error, sometimes with the message: "your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding".
I am not using a regular modem, I am using some kind of USB connection device with a chip in where the internet comes through the air, there is no cable connection to the house, and the internet is associated with the house. It is a specific compatability problem with one laptop/notebook. I am in Chile.

Today I purchased 3 more USB/dongle type devices and none of them work with my computer, but they all work with another computer. So the problem is one of compatibility with all such devices, not just with the one specific device.
I can connect my computer to a wireless network arriving by cable to the house. When I visit someone else's house that is. But not with my main computer at my main home which doesn't have such a network because there is no cable to the house.

My temporary solution was to connect to my main laptop indirectly, using another computer as the host and an ethernet cable.
A more permanent solution (I hope) has now been found which was an option in the window of the software for the internet to chose between "NDIS" and "RAS (Modem)". I change from the former to the latter and it worked.

Heya, I've been having the same issues for a while now, where I go to troubleshoot and it gives me "The connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the Internet is broken." I figured it was just a problem with my computer, and as I was getting a new one soon anyway, I wasn't that worried about it. Yet here I am with a new computer and the problem persists.

Note: I just thought to try it on my mum's laptop, and got the same error. I never thought to check anyone else's computers because they had never mentioned having troubles. Then again, they would never have noticed that they had the issue, since the only thing they use their computers for is browsing the web and watching youtube videos, and both those things work perfectly fine. The only reason I noticed I had an issue is because I'm unable to use Steam or connect to multiplayer servers on Minecraft; they both send back a "cannot connect to X server" message.

This all started about a month ago when we got a new ISP and a new modem along with it, a surfboard SBG6580.

I have already tried making sure it's automatic, I've tried manually changing the DNS server in IPv4 to 192.168.0.1 -- when I do that I can't even browse the web. I'm at my wit's end here. Got any help?

Hello Orjerby and welcome to the forum.
For the record, I am unable to ping either of the two DNS servers you have listed for your wireless adapter (192.117.235.235 or 62.219.186.7 both seem to belong to Bezeq International). This may be intentional and by design as they may be taking steps to prevent external pings to protect their network against attacks and purposely drop all inbound ping packets.
My question would be, aside from what you have mentioned are you experiencing any other issues with your internet connection?

Thx for the reply, I'm experiencing slow speed internet, not sure if it's cuz the internet or the low signal from my router.
So i tried many things and noticed this fail of DNS.

Probably not DNS. In my experience DNS resolves IP addresses to Fully Qualified Domain Names or it doesn't.
Have you considered just setting your DNS server address to that of your default gateway (router 192.168.1.1) and let it simply act as a forwarder and see if that helps at all.
Alternately you could experiment with public DNS servers such as Google's (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) and see if that helps at all.
You can also flush your DNS cache (ipconfig /flushdns) and see if that helps.
And if the option is available to you maybe grab a Cat5 cable and jack your computer's Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller into your router and see if performance improves. That might narrow the issue down to your wireless adapter at least.

I have two computers both using wireless and connected to the same network, but when i try to access this computer using the network, it says DNS server isn't responding. Please could anyone tell me what is wrong.
