Hello,

My boyfriend has my old Medion Akoya MD97620 P6618 laptop. Its had a new battery bought and recently a new hard drive bought. We installed Windows 7 on it, which is obviously a clean install due to the hard drive being blank and new.

We have just discovered that the FN + Brightness Up and FN + Brightness Down keys do not respond. All the other FN keys work. I got him to update the laptop as it hadn't done this since the Operating System had been put on.

After the updates he stated the screen is now brighter but the FN keys for the brightness still do not work.

Can anyone suggest anything? If you know of any drivers that fix this can you post the link here?

Please do not reply too technical I want to be able to get this fixed for him.

Regards

It sounds like the issue with the function keys for adjusting brightness on the Medion Akoya MD97620 P6618 laptop might be related to missing or outdated drivers. Here are a few steps to troubleshoot and potentially fix this issue without getting too technical:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Update Graphics Driver:
    • Go to the Medion support website or the manufacturer of the graphics card (usually Intel, NVIDIA, or AMD).
    • Look for the latest driver for the graphics card of your laptop model and download it.
    • Install the driver and restart the laptop.
    []Update Keyboard Driver:
    • Check if there are specific drivers for the keyboard on the Medion support website.
    • Download and install any available keyboard drivers for your laptop model.
    [
    ]Function Key Utility:
    • Some laptops require a specific utility to enable function keys. Look for any related utility on the Medion support page for your laptop model.
  2. BIOS Update:
    • Updating the laptop's BIOS may sometimes resolve issues with function keys. However, proceed with caution as BIOS updates can be critical.
    • Check the Medion support website for any BIOS updates available for your laptop model.

      Additional Suggestions:

      • Make sure the laptop is not in Power Saver mode as this can affect screen brightness adjustments.
      • Test the FN + Brightness keys after each step to see if the issue is resolved.
If you encounter any technical difficulties during these steps or need further assistance, feel free to reach out for more detailed guidance. Good luck with fixing the brightness adjustment keys on the laptop!
