Windows 7 Having problems with Bsod

Hi,

I have been having problems with my machine lately. It has been having problems starting up. It seems to run memchk everytime it starts up. It also BSOD's occasionally.

I did have my cpu overclocked but have reverted it since. It's still having the same issues. Is my harddrive dying? I attached the logs from the windows 7 diagnostic tool that you guys have. I also attached my latest memchk results called, My_memchk_system_log, in there as well.

My specs:

i5 760 at stock frequency
ASUS P7P55D-e LGA 1156 Motherboard
GTX 470
530W Seasonic power supply

Appreciate any help!

Please do not resume overclocking until we've finished troubleshooting. If overclocking, please stop.

There are no Windows Updates since SP1 - most systems have 130 to 140. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates immediately.

Only 222 mB of free RAM. Please add RAM to the system. While waiting to add RAM, do not run more than one program at a time - and eliminate as many of the 3rd party startup programs as you can.

Win7 doesn't like wireless USB network adapters. Ensure that you have the latest Win7 drivers for this device (DO NOT use Vista era drivers - they will cause BSOD's). Here's my rant about these devices:
I do not recommend using wireless USB devices. Especially in Win7 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7 - and using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have Win7 drivers - DO NOT use Vista drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have

seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome

sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): [DEL]

DuplexSecure - FAQ [/DEL]
Link broken as of 21 Jul 2012
New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install"

when you run it).

Manual procedure here: Registry and SPTD problems | DAEMON Pro Help

There are a lot of these errors:
An I/O operation initiated by the Registry failed unrecoverably. The Registry could not read in, or write out, or flush, one of the files that contain the system's image of the Registry.
//
Are you able to perform a System Restore to a point before this started happening? If so, please do it and see if that helps.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Ok I went ahead and bought more ram.

I am not sure if a system restore is a viable option as the crashes started occurring a while ago.

I don't have any Windows updates to do. My computer does them automatically so I am not sure why the report would show 0 updates since SP1...

Thanks for the advice!

Could you try forcing a check for updates in Windows Update? Once you upgrade to SP1 it should still show the list of updates you did before the upgrade.

Just a suggestion - remember to follow the rest of the pointers provided by usasma.

Ok, I opened up Windows update and see that I have over 200 updates completed successfully. Not sure why it doesn't show in my log..ill follow the rest of the advice that usasma gave
