Windows 8 How can I move unallocated space to the partition I want?

Hi

I'm trying to start over on the creating a recovery capsule thing.
I have turned the old one into unallocated space.

I can add it to drive C:\ that's not a problem, but I'd like to add it too the D:\ partition and it does't give me the option to do that.

Here's the image, check out disk 1, C:\, unallocated, D:\...

Anyway that's the deal, why can I add it to C:\ but not to D:\?

Hi Mike,

To be clear, when you right click on the D drive… the extend drive option is greyed out?

The default windows tool is a little simplistic and will only see space at the back of a drive… work around is delete the D drive then make a new larger one that uses all available space.

Yes the option is grayed out.

Well I can't delete the D:\ drive (it has a lot of data on it) so I guess I'll just add the space back to C:\.
To bad I can't just extend the D:\ drive to use the unallocated space.

I suppose I could get software that would do this, I used to use Partition Magic a long time ago before Windows had any options to do this out of dos.

I'm going to try and create a recovery partition again and see if it works the second time through.

OK I added the space back to C:\ so everything is back to normal.
I started Paragon and it showed that this time it would place the recovery module behind the D:\ drive.

I think that I screwed it up last time by shrinking the C:\ drive and putting the new partition in the wrong place.
