I apologize if there is another thread that has already been posted about this issue. If I may of missed that thread while skimming through Google then please reply back with a link to that thread.

As of recently my computer turns off my wireless connection every time I am idle for more than 5 minutes it seems.

After being idle for 5 minutes or so my wireless icon turns to: http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/zz183/galather/Untitled-3.png

When I unplug it, it still shows internet activity... I have no internal wireless cards in my system: http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/zz183/galather/Unplugged.png

When I plug it back in it still shows the same wireless network connections screen. However I cannot plug into any network: http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/zz183/galather/Replug.png

I tried rebooting my modem and router but that doesn't work either. Only thing that works is that I need to restart my computer.

If you need anymore information please don't hesitate to ask.

If this is a laptop, does it behave the same when plugged in or not?

Have you checked the Power Settings for your plan-advanced settings and set the Wireless for less power savings?

In Device Manager, you should show a Power tab on your network adapter in the Properties dialog. Maybe you could adjust that.

Since this device is a USB device, the power settings for that might be involved.

You also might check the network adapters dialog (ncpa.cpl) and see if you have more than one adapter listed. If you have a hard wired one and it is enabled, but not connected, it might cause the partial connectivity to show. If you do have a second adapter, if you are not using it, just disable it.

Thanks! It works now. I tested it by leaving my computer idle all night and so far everything is working fine again.

I have had the same problem for a long time. I investgated everything, from card to modem. I even bought a newe router. In the end, with various test instruments, which included setting up my intyernet connected laptop in a remote shed in the garden, I discovered I was having the broad band connection actually taken from me.
I live in a road with about ten houses, way out in the country, and on old copper wires. Whilst the ISP has still to admit it, it seems that they have possibly programmed there server to share out the connection as best it can. At it's worst, this incudes actually using your bandwidth, whenever it is seen as idle!
What I do now is leep triggereing the modem and disabling and enabling the net adapter at the same time. Usually does it after a couple of goes. darn nuisance. Changing the ISP would not help as my present one has a monopoly on the use of the lines.

I did as you instructed by managing the power management on my wireless via device manager:

But as of recently I am still receiving the same problem as before...

During the time when my computer turns off my wireless card it still says my wireless card is working... Fine?

I am also now receiving a rather odd task bar during the time when my wireless card is turned off by my computer: http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/zz183/galather/Weirdui.png

P.S. I am using a desktop

Is the Netgear in the photo your router? The other netgear with the same signal strength is not yours?

Can you click connect and get back online?

A yellow triangle normally means you have LAN access, but not internet.

Do you have the card set to connect automatically to that network. There should be a profile that keep track of any security requirements for logon.

You can attach photos here directly by using the paperclip on the advanced replies.

Yes that router is mine. The other one I am not sure who owns that.

No I cant click connect and get back online. That is the issue, I have to restart my computer every time that happens.

I do not have my card set up to automatically connect to that network. However I didn't have to for over a year.

I am not sure exactly why this is happening.
I do not think its my wireless device but the OS.

If anyone needs more information please do not hesitate to ask.

I am still having problems with this.
