Keyboards are usually usual stuff, and Windows recognizes them automatically. It's mere plug-and-play. Sometimes they do come with specific software. If so, you should use the installation disc. But, Windows does mostly work with default settings, even if with more sophisticated ware. Merely an issue of not perhaps getting all out of it?
Have you checked by right clicking in Device Manager? "Update driver software"?
And the classic: you don't have it connected to mouse contact? If USB, check that part.
