Windows 7 Limited Access Wireless? Cannot Connect to internet on only one machine!

It has been a while since I last done this, but you should be able to find the AVG protocol under the Properties of your network connection. If you use a wireless network connection, make sure that you remove this protocol from your LAN (wired network connection).

To get to the properties of your network connection, follow the following steps (Windows Vista/7) -

  1. Navigate to "Control Panel" (should be able to find this from your Start menu).
  2. In "Category" view, click on "Network and Internet". In "Icon" view, click on "Network and Sharing Center".
  3. From the left navigation pane, click on "Change adapter settings".
  4. Right-click on your LAN/WLAN network connection, e.g. Wireless Network Connection or Local Area Connection. From the produced menu, click on "Properties".
  5. On the "Networking" tab of the "Properties" dialog box, scroll down the list box under "This connection uses the following items:", where you should find the protocol for AVG. When you have located this protocol, select it and then click on the "Uninstall" button.
  6. When prompted if you are sure you want to uninstall the selected protocol, click on the "Yes" button.

Hopefully you will be able to resolve this problem by following my steps, if you have any difficulty just respond to this thread :)

Ok this helped but theres no avg network filter but I also deleted hotspot shield and it has hotspot shield routing driver in the protocols.im unable to check/uncheck any of the protocols. it might be causing the problem.

I had this problem and followed what Richard said, I didn't have avg I had hot spot shield (my niece recently added)...unchecked the box and wah lah it worked!!! Thanks Richard!! Ur the best, I registered just to tell you that. And thanks Google for making this forum the first link to click on to find the resolution

Hi, I'm having somewhat of the same issues. I'm connecting to an xfinitywifi hotspot and am able to connect but with no Internet access and at times limited access. I've gone through every post that I can find. I was on it last week and all of a sudden Internet access is gone. I've talked with Comcast and everything is fine in the area. When I do a diagnosis test it says " doesn't have a valid ip configuration" when I view the detailed info it says "cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct error and click the refresh button, or try again later." Please help I have my daughter with me, we don't have any TV and she is so board. When I go into my intel PROSet tools the tests all come back okay except the Ping test. When I trouble shoot it says ip configuration error. Is there any pointers that could help me get connected. Thanks so much.

Hi,
I Also have This Same Problem
But After A Few Tweaks I Get It Working Again
This Works For Sky Idk About Anything Else.
Basically Like 3 Months Ago My Internet Was Not Working There Was An Orange Light On The Router
Which Is Limited Access
I First Thought It Was An Outage In My Area Because Thats What I Read On The Sky Address
Go To The Start Menu And Type Cmd Or Windows Button And R And Type Cmd In The Run Box.
Then Write "ipconfig" Something Like This Will Come Up

Find Default Gateway And Look Next To It And An Ip Will be There For Example Mine Is "192.168.0.1" Then Go To Your Browser (This May Not Work For Others But Worked For Google Chrome) And Type That Ip In
And Press Enter, An Authentication Box Will Appear You May Need To Find This Out On You Broadband Providers Website But For Sky It Is Mainly
Username: Admin
Password: Sky

This Screen Will Pop Up

Go To Setup
And There Will Be Some Options
( I Cant Show You As This Contains Personal Information)
And Then Go To Channel And Change It To Something Random But try To Avoid The Same As People In Your Local Place
Such As Neighbors. This Causes Interference
Press Apply And You Will Lose Your Internet Connection As It Configures Everything But It Should Come Back In A Few Seconds And Hopefully Your Internet Connection Should Work.

Hope This Helps

I am a newbie technician who was really upset that I cant fix my own laptop regarding this Limited Access issue. I tried a lot of suggestions from different forums, none of them worked except Richard's (AVG Network filter). I actually signed up here just to be able to post this reply.

Thanks Richard, you're a lifesaver.

My wifi has stopped working it has a yellow triangle icon on it when I diagnostic it tells me the connection between my access point is broken I reset my router dozens of times with no prevail I have read the others solutions but no help. Ps. I have a hp pc with time warner internet provider

I'm having the same issue. My laptop restated and updated like normal but when it came back on it said I had limited connection. As said above, I searched in the control panel for an AVG but it doesn't show up. I also tried updating the network adapter but that requires internet, disabling and enabling the network. Anymore ideas?

Thank you, PowerHotmail. I don't have the AVG protocol in my wireless so I couldn't apply Richard's suggestion. I tried yours and it works. Thank you so much! :)

Okay now I am super stressed out about this problem. Windows 8 laptop.

Here is what happened. Yesterday, my fiancee received a notice to update AVG. After she did and it rebooted... there is an exclamation mark by the wifi and we haven't been able to connect. We need this internet bad right now for assignments/finals.

I searched for the AVG protocol, it's not there (I used the uninstaller, so maybe that rid the computer of it).
I got rid of the intel broadband card in the device manager, which windows reinstalled, and it still doesn't work.
I've tried every option presented in this thread to no avail.

Hi Jason,
have you checked the Device manager? Check see if there are any yellow question marks by network adapters or anything else for that matter. It sounds like your network or wi-fi driver got corrupted and needs re-installing.
Drivers are supplied by the manufacturer so pop along to the machines support page (google is a great help here) and re-install or update the network drivers.

If you have trouble finding the driver then post back.

I've done all of that. I have this Realtek device, and have reinstalled, updated, removed, disabled, and everything else. Im going to try the support page now to see if it's possible to find another

Try this to see if it helps:

Run cmd as administrator: Start > Search cmd > Right click and choose "Run as administrator" (or press Ctrl + Shift + Enter)
Input netsh winsock reset, then press enter

Restart computer after that

Hey,

I am a technician and I am currently fixing a laptop with a similar problem to your's.

I found that after looking at the protocols installed for the Wireless connection, there was one for AVG (AVG was no longer installed) removing this solved the problem.

Richard

Hi Richard / Other Specialists

I've tried everything which is mentioned in this forum but the issue is not resolved. I'm attaching the screens here from wireless network properties. Neither I have avg installed or any other hot spot here. Could you please check and suggest any other way
