I have a legal version of windows 7 but I don't get it installed from scratch until the last updates on a HP Presario V6000. When an update of windows update is installed, the remainder of the updates fails due to the fact that windows update hangs. I tried several solutions from the internet but nothing helps. I want windows 7 to be replaced by windows 10 But windows 10 can be installed on the same laptop from scratch without any problems. How can I show that I have a legal windows 7 version and that I am entitled for a free windows 10 version?
 

If your copy of windows 7 is fully activated then that's all the proof you need really. Your update app may simply be corrupted. Try the windows update troubleshooter app:
