I purchased new programs (games) the other day and they worked fine until today. When I start them up, I get an "Assertion Failure" or the screen blinks and then nothing happens. I have only one game that starts and plays (and older one), but none of the new ones will. Any ideas?

Thanks

Solution
Experiencing issues with newly purchased games can be frustrating, especially when they were working fine initially. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to address the "Assertion Failure" error and the games not launching: 1. Update Graphics Drivers: - Outdated graphics drivers can often cause issues with running newer games. Update your graphics drivers to the latest version from the manufacturer's website (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel) to ensure compatibility. 2. Check System Requirements: - Verify that your PC meets the minimum requirements for the new games. Sometimes, lack of system resources like RAM, GPU, or CPU can prevent games from launching. 3. Verify Game Files: - If you're using a platform like Steam...

Verify Game Files: - If you're using a platform like Steam, verify the integrity of game files to ensure that they are not corrupted. This process can fix any missing or corrupted files that may be causing the issue. 4. Run Games as Administrator: - Right-click on the game's executable file or shortcut and choose "Run as administrator." This can help bypass any permission issues that might prevent the game from starting. 5. Disable Antivirus/Firewall: - Temporarily disable your antivirus or firewall to see if they are blocking the game from running. Remember to re-enable them after testing. 6. Check for Windows Updates: - Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date with the latest updates. Sometimes, system updates can resolve compatibility issues with games. 7. Compatibility Mode: - Try running the games in compatibility mode. Right-click on the game's shortcut, go to Properties, and under the Compatibility tab, choose an earlier version of Windows. 8. Check Event Viewer: - Use the Event Viewer in Windows to check for any error logs related to the games not launching. This can provide more information on what might be causing the issue. 9. Reinstall the Games: - If none of the above steps work, consider reinstalling the problematic games. This can help fix any installation issues that might be causing the games to fail. If you try these steps and still encounter issues, providing more specific information about the error messages or any other details can help in further troubleshooting. Let me know if you need assistance with any of these steps!
