Windows 7 Please help! BSOD 4 times ..

Afternoon,

I have been having some BSOD today. Once while playing battlefield3 and twice while playing far cry 3 and just recently while using google chrome on you tube.

System spec:

Intel q9450 2.66ghz

4gb DDR 2 1066

2x crossfire ati 5870

psu 750w

win7 64 bit.

I have just recently installed a second ati graphics card. Crossfire is disabled atm because my psu isn't up to the challenge. I will be purchasing a 1000w in a few weeks.

I used to get these BSOD once in a while testing out new drivers from ati. Using 11.12 atm which have been the most stable for me.

Attached is mini dump which has happened four times today.

Any advice would be great! Pulling my hair out....

Only 83 updates since SP1 - most systems have 130 to 140. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates.

Please update the ATK0110 ACPI Utility driver from the Asus website (in the Utilities section). The 2005 version of this driver (ASACPI.sys) is known to cause BSOD issues in WIn7 systems.

Wireless USB XBox controller is known to cause BSOD's. No updates available for that driver (the 2009 version), so un-install the software and physically remove the device from the system. Give it a try (by it's self) after the BSOD's have stopped.

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).

Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): ~~[DEL] DuplexSecure - FAQ [/DEL]~~ Link broken as of 21 Jul 2012

Spent the day updating and fixing the driver issues. Spent a few hours gaming with no BSOD!! CPU over clocked too.. So far so good!!

Hello again.

I just got another BSOD while playing battlefield 3. This is only game I get this issue. Attached is the minidump. All my system is still the same. See above attached files.

Any thoughts would be great.

Please remove the overclock while we're troubleshooting (a 33% overclock is likely to cause this sort of problem). Feel free to resume it once the system has been stabilized.

Please remove MSI Afterburner/Riva Tuner/EVGA Precision. These programs use the same drivers and are known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems.

Ensure that you have ALL Windows Updates.

If, after fixing all of this, you still have BSOD's. Please start with these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics

Hello again.

Everything seemed to be going fine. took my OC and uninstalling MSi Afterburner like you said. Few weeks laters I now getting BSOD while playing starcraft. A new patch has just been released which could be the issue as I have never had a BSOD on starcraft.

Any input would be great. Minidump attached.

Just FYI - I will be traveling tomorrow, so I probably won't be able to answer until Friday.

This one blames video - although it could be either software or hardware.
I'd suggest running Driver Verifier to see if we can force it to blame a driver. Please use the instructions here: Driver Verifier Settings The results from that will determine which direction we go in.

Evening...

Today I have done a fresh install of windows 7. All updated fully. All drivers up to date etc.

I re installed starcraft 2 . Been working fine most of the day no BSOD. Until now. Attached in a minidump.

Confused what is causing this issue. I have swapped the ram in my pc for exaclty the same . to iron out its a memory issue.

BIOS is default values and nothing is OC.

I am pulling my hair out. I have been told it could be bluetooth keyboard giving me issues so I am going to swap keyboards.

Any info would be great.

From the stack text I suspect a USB input device of some sort. It could be the Bluetooth keyboard, or it could be a lot of other things. Start by checking everything USB and everything that can put input into the computer (Human Interface Devices).

But first, you MUST update this driver (as it's known to cause BSOD's):

ASACPI.sys Sun Mar 27 22:30:36 2005 (42476C4C)
Asus ATK0110 ACPI Utility (a known BSOD maker in Win7 and Win8). Also a part of many Asus utilities

You will find this in the ATK or the Utilities download section of the Asus website for your motherboard. Just FYI - this happens when you connect to Windows Update with a fresh install of Windows.

Also, please update your wired networking driver as the one on the system dates from 2008:

I will update ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Win7 32&64-bit with the lastest version which is dated 2009.12.07 and ATHEROS L1E Driver V1.0.0.45 for Windows 32bit XP/64bit XP/32bit Vista/64bit Vista/32bit Win7/64bit Win7 with the lastest which is 2009.09.23. All from the asus website.

Will then see if it blue screens again. I wont be using the blue tooth keyboard for now.

After a few days of gaming on Starcraft 2 I have not had any BSOD since I changed the keyboard over from bluetooth to 2.4 wifi keyboard.
