Windows 7 Power state failure BSOD - when i close lid of laptop

Hello all
I am using a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop for almost 2 years now. I keep getting BSOD due to Power state failure when i close the lid of laptop(with lid close action set to sleep) I have tried changing lid close action, put it to sleep manually or hibernate it.. been updating drivers but to no avail.. i randomly keep getting this error. Somedays multiple times in a day or sometimes once in 3-4 days!!!
Attaching a zip file of data gathered as per guidelines and this zip includes output of cpu-z and rammon tools too, as html files.

Please, please help me get over this issue.

Hi,
all your dump files were the same and basically mean a driver had a power state failure. I can see that it's blaming the Network driver as the prime cause:
athrx.sys Wed Jan 11 04:47:50 2012: Atheros network adapter driver.

In fact all of your drivers are in need of updating. If you go to the support page for your machine you'll see there are updates available so please update everything.

Also can you pop into the advanced power options in the control panel and make sure 'Hybrid sleep' is enabled.

Post any new dump files after updating.
 
Thanks a lot Kemical, I have already done one round of upgrade for most of the drivers there, using HP's driver manager.. i install it, but what i notice is the time stamp and version for installed driver does not change!!!
I have made changes to power settings as suggested by you.. Will observe behaviour for a couple of days, and will get back to you

I would stop using the manager to update the drivers and download them individually. Make sure you uninstall the old driver first before installing the new. Your just installing over the top of the old drivers which is perhaps why the dates aren't changing.
In any case let me know how you get on and best of luck.

I have updated the atheros driver with the latest one i obtained from atheros site also updated the pcie card reader driver and couple of other drivers i obtained from HP site.. Tonight I got another BSOD issue.. so am attaching the collected data Please do suggest me what else to be done... Could it be caused due to heating and/or dust? I just work out of home, in India, no AC, working temperature is usual outside temperature..

Also can you suggest any tool to scan and update drivers, preferably free one..

same again. I can see that you updated the athrx.sys but you also need to update the other drivers too.
Also can you suggest any tool to scan and update drivers, preferably free one..
Why do you need to use a tool? I've given you the support page with all the drivers available. Also using apps to find drivers is a lazy way to update your machine and invariably they get it wrong anyway.
Please apply all driver updates

Download the drivers individually first and then uninstall the previous version before installing the new. There are no short cuts to this I'm afraid.

Also look in the start menu for command prompt, right click on it and run as admin. Type:
sfc /scannow
Press enter and await results.

Did you also change the setting in the power menu to enable 'Hybrid sleep' too?
 
I have changed it to Hybrid sleep.. in fact as per couple of posts i had come across earlier on net, i have disabled netbios for tcpip for my wireless and wired connection both.. there are only 3-4 drivers available on HP and have installed them already on my system.. may be and then look around for different drivers too.. as you said, it looks like a lengthy process and may be I have to do over period of time.. Thanks a lot.. will keep you posted..
 
Well to be honest you can only use the drivers supplied by the manufacturer. Using drivers from anywhere else may result in issues and blue screens.
 
i only downloaded from HP site... and Radeon adapter driver from amd and atheros from qualcom site..
I will probably observe things for 2-3 weeks may be. and may be make it a dual boot, using ubuntu..
 
Hmm.. Here is what happened.. I had updated atheros driver from HP site.. it did not fix the issue.. So, started searching for it and got it from qualcomm site and updated it. Yesterday, AMD site's auto detect tool, showed AMD radeon driver needs update so installed it - HP site shows a RADEON driver available, but its download fails!!!

Last night I updated LAN driver and hd audio driver downloaded from HP site... Lan driver, after installation showed it is not correctly installed, gave me option to reinstall with recommended settings, i chose the option and everything seemed ok..
After some time i updated HD audio driver, this one also showed me same message after installation - and it was downloaded from HP site - when i tried installing again, got a BSOD.. kept getting it everytime i started the system.. then ran system recovery managed to restore to some pont - at the end of restore i got a message saying unspecified 0x800700b7 error occured. I closed the tool, system logged me in but when i tried to restart the system the system was stuck forever while starting.. So repeated entore recovery thing again, to a diffferent restore point.again it showed unspecified 0x800700b7 error occured but atleast able to log on to system..restart also worked fine. :)

Not sure what is happening.. It is a refurbished system, I got through a friend in US in 2013 and I am located in Bangalore, India.. I am not sure if this refurbished thing is causing the issues.. You probably know by now, HP support sucks!! :)

Any expert advice is a great help..

did your friend give any reason in particular for selling the lappie? In any case try running this scan as it will detect and if possible repair corruption within the os:

A friend was in USA and got a real good deal so he bought it for me.. I was under impression that refurbished ones are typically the ones returned within a few days of buying and are being sold after fixing faulty parts.. but later came to know that as part of refurbishing basically parts from different laptops are taken out and one laptop is created..

I ran sfc /scannow no issues found..
I think the radeon driver installation as been reverted as part of the restore activity i had to do yesterdat. May be i will update that driver again, not sure though..

One more thing i notice when we open dump file is that the default bucket id is given as vista driver fault.. where as i am using windows 7!!!!

Well when you update the driver use this application:
Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) V15.7.0.1 Released. - Wagnardmobile Forum
This will remove any old bits of driver left behind by previous installs. You'll need to boot into safe mode in order to use it correctly.

Just a word regarding the latest AMD driver release. They (AMD) have revised their graphics driver and are now called Crimson drivers rather than 'Catalyst'. I also understand that several gpu's have now become 'legacy' which means this driver will not work for those components. If you find the latest driver will not install try a previous version.
 
Yes, now they are called Crimson drivers.. it did install properly because their tool itself does it. and subsequent reboot added 2-3 different processes to the windows startup.. But since that update is now rolled back as part of last restore, i wll probably not do that update again :)

yes it is still the same driver.. I will probably uninstall existing one and install the one i downloaded from HP site.. Will do that later at night.. u never know how these updates go :)

Hi,
as you can see from the bugcheck a driver hasn't responded properly to a power irp when reducing power. We can also see in the dump file:

So try the update from the HP site and if it still blue screens then there might be something else going on but we'll see.
