Hi
My bsnl wimax connection has stopped working on my laptop...IT WORKS ON MY FREINDS' LAPTOP
On my laptop (windows 7), in the taskbar, it shows connected and everything seems fine but i cant access any sites or download anything
Does this have to do with a bluetooth device i installed a few days back or some other issue...plz guide me

Doubt if the bluetooth install has had any effect. Goto a command prompt and enter the commend:

ipconfig /all

to examine your IP configuration. If you need any help inetrpreting it please post the output here.

None of those adapters is showing any connection - there must be more further down which you have not shown.

I assume that it is the wireless connectio0n you are having problems with. It is not showing as connecting at all. Try going to device manager in control panel, network adapters, removing the device by right clicking on the wireless adapter and selecting uninstall. Reboot and see if Windows picks the adapter up and reinstalls for you.

sir, i am not using a wireless connection....its wimax(with wire)...also if i uninstall the adapter can i install it again....plz pardon me for this silly question...i need to be doubly sure...thats all... thx...waiting for ur reply

Ok - try removing the wired adapter from your device manager - when you reboot Windows will pick up ont e device and reinstall it.

i uninstalled both the wired and wireless adapters and reinstalled on system reboot but still net is not working...the network icon shows my laptop is connected but i cant open any sites, cant access my modem through 192.168.1.1 but when i use utorrent i can connect to seeds/leeches but speed is below 1 kbps...i have set my ip address as auto set and my connection works perfectly fine on my friend's laptop...kindly advise

You may have a firewall blocking access - do you have or have you previously had a firewall running on your pc?

Try temporarily disabling them all. You should in any case have only one running at a time - more than one can cause conflicts.

i also tried to ping google and 8.8.8.8. the results are below

Ping times are all reasonable - the request timeouts are a bit concerning but you would need to do a more sustained test to see how significant they may be. Try diabling IPv6 from the adapter - it is not being used and has been associated with some problems.
