Windows 8 relocate desktop program to start menu

i dragged out my Microsoft word icon into the desktop from my start menu tile board. I thought i'd be able to drag it back in but... no.
how can i relocate my icon/program into the start menu back with all the neatly organized Microsoft office programs?

If you right click the icon on the desktop you may see an option to add it to the Start menu.

It only gives me the option to 'pin to start' but it does not change the location of the program.
I'm on a multiuser pc so I ended up deleting the user account where I had dragged the icon and just created a new account.

If your only moving icons then the location of the program won't have changed just the icon location.
