I was wondering if anyone had any success with this?
I used to be able to RDP to my XP dual monitor pc at work with the mstsc /span command, which would allow me to pull up my remote session up on my dual monitors here, as if I were at my desk at work. Since installing Win7, if I try the same command, or use some of the Administator commands, it still only connects me to a single monitor on the remote pc. Is this a limitation since they are not both Win7? Or is there a trick to this?

cheers

It seems like you are facing an issue with Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) when trying to connect to a dual-monitor setup from a Windows 7 machine to an XP machine. The /span command you used previously with MSTSC on XP allowed you to extend the remote desktop session across both monitors. Here are some insights and potential solutions to your situation: 1. Compatibility: The behavior you are experiencing might be due to differences in how dual monitors are handled between Windows XP and Windows 7. 2. /span Command: The /span command you used may not work the same way on Windows 7 as it did on XP due to changes in the RDP functionalities. 3. 3. Workaround: - One solution is to try using the /multimon switch with the MSTSC command on your Windows 7 machine instead of /span. - Another workaround is to check the display settings on the XP machine and ensure that the dual monitors are configured correctly. - Additionally, you can adjust the resolution settings for the remote desktop session to match the dual-monitor setup. To try the /multimon switch with MSTSC: 1. Open the Run dialog by pressing Win + R. 2. Enter mstsc /multimon and press Enter. 3. Provide the necessary details to connect to your XP machine. You can also try adjusting the display settings within the remote desktop session by going to Start > Control Panel > Display on the remote XP machine. If these solutions do not resolve the issue, it might be a limitation imposed by the version differences between Windows XP and Windows 7 in terms of dual-monitor support over RDP. In that case, you may consider alternative solutions like third-party remote desktop software or upgrading the older XP machine to a newer OS for better compatibility and functionality. Feel free to try out these suggestions and let me know if you need further assistance!
