Hello,
My laptop has too many BSODs. I have updated all the drivers, but it does not help. Due to many crashes and BSODs, I often send laptop to the service. But after nearly one month crashes begin again. On the Blue Screen it says that I should check for BIOS updates. I try to update BIOS, but there are no new updates in support sites. My laptop is Acer Aspire 5739G. The latest BIOS update in Acer support is due 12/14/2009. This update does not solve my crashes. Where can I get BIOS update? Can I update it on my on? Any help? :)

Solution
Dealing with frequent Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) issues can be frustrating, especially when driver updates and service visits haven't resolved the problem. If you've checked for BIOS updates through Acer's official support site and found that the latest update is from 12/14/2009, it's possible that there might be a lack of official updates beyond that point. Here are some steps you can take to potentially resolve the BIOS update issue and address the persistent BSODs on your Acer Aspire 5739G laptop:

1. Check Alternate Sources for BIOS Updates:

Here are some steps you can take to potentially resolve the BIOS update issue and address the persistent BSODs on your Acer Aspire 5739G laptop:

1. Check Alternate Sources for BIOS Updates:

  • Sometimes, third-party BIOS update repositories may have more recent versions that could potentially address your BSOD problems. However, using such sources carries risks, so exercise caution.

2. Manufacturer Support Forums:

  • Visit Acer's official forums or community support channels. Sometimes, users share unofficial BIOS updates or workarounds that may help improve system stability.

3. Contact Acer Support:

  • Reach out directly to Acer customer support. Provide detailed information about your ongoing issues. They may offer additional assistance or suggest alternative solutions.

4. Verify Hardware Issues:

  • Consider checking for any hardware problems that might be contributing to the BSODs. Issues with RAM, hard drives, or other components can also trigger crashes.

5. Update Device Drivers:

  • Make sure all device drivers are up-to-date, including graphics, chipset, and network drivers, as outdated drivers can also cause system instability.

6. System Restore or Reset:

  • If all else fails, consider performing a system restore to a point before the BSODs started occurring or resetting your system to its factory settings as a last resort.

    Can I Update BIOS Myself?

Attempting to update the BIOS on your own is possible, but it carries risks. Incorrect BIOS updates can render your system inoperable. If you decide to proceed:
  • Caution is Key: Follow the manufacturer's instructions to the letter and back up critical data before updating.
  • Stability Check: Ensure your laptop is connected to a stable power source during the update.
  • Official Sources: Only download BIOS updates from official sources to avoid potential malware or corrupted files.
If you're uncomfortable with this process, seeking professional assistance might be the safest option. Dealing with BSODs can be complex, and a mix of software and hardware troubleshooting might be required to pinpoint and resolve the underlying causes. I hope these suggestions guide you towards resolving the issues with your laptop!
