I have an Acer M5640 desktop. I want to upgrade (32 bit) to Windows 7.The Windows 7 Upgrade advisor tells me that I have a program named ATI Catalyst Install Manager that should be uninstalled before the upgrade and then installed again after the upgrade. I'm confused about this software since my display adapter is a Nvidia geforce 7100/nforce 630i and I don't see any ATI hardware. I'm not an expert in this area by any means.
Google searches for the last 2 hours haven't helped much either.
Can someone shed some light on this problem??? This is the only thing holding me back from doing the upgrade.

Hello,
That is an odd behavior. Try to install the latest update for nVidia NVIDIA DRIVERS 178.24 WHQL and see if that solves your problem.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm kinda working in an area I'm not real familar with. If I install these, will I be able to uninstall if I have problems? And how will I do that?? I already have an entry in Control Panel/Programs and Features named NVIDIA drivers from an update earlier this year.
Yes you'll be able to uninstall it in case of that didn't work, i have written an nVidia driver cleanup article Link Removed - Invalid URL
Hope this helps,
Captain

I decided to take the "easy" approach first. I started the "ATI Catalyst Install Manager" and told it to check for updates. It came back and told me that I have no ATI hardware/software on the machine. I ended it, took a restore point, then uninstalled it. After rebooting and working a little bit, I took an image backup and also a FBACKUP 4 run. Then went ahead and upgraded to Win 7 Home Premium. Took about 2 hours but everything went fine. Machine is working great and I have only had a problem with one piece of software from FEMA.
Appreciate your help though.
