USB hard drive not recognized

My friend recently purchased a Western Digital Passport 60GB USB 2.0 external hard drive from Newegg. Its working pretty fine on his laptop without any problem. But, whenever he tries to connect this hard drive to his desktop computer, get an error message says "USB Device Not Recognized". His desktop computer detects any other USB device just fine.


Need your advice to fix this problem.

Look in DEvice Manager, under Universal Serial Bus Converters.Is there any yellow flag?

Well forst you should check that
1)If the device works with the other machine?
2)The bios lost the drive. A lot of bios these days have some advanced settings on USB devices. Make sure they are all set properly.
After that reghakr is quite true.You should first look after device manager.
