Windows Vista Vista Install DVD problem

I have a Presario x1000 laptop, that meets and exceeds the Vista min requirements. My DVD drive for some reason refuses to recognize the Vista DVD. Like it doesn't exist. It reads other DVDs, and my Dell laptop loads the Vista DVD just fine. Does anyone know how to solve this conundrum?

Other than trying to install from an external DVD that recognises Vista disk, I see nothing else that can be done

It is possible to install Windows Vista from the hard drive assuming you can get the files on the DVD to the Presario. The Presario needs to have some form of O/S (Windows XP should work fine) on it that can run the installer. If both are true, go to this link and read on.

Hope this works for you. :)
