It seems like you're experiencing a problem with high CPU usage when playing videos on Windows Vista Ultimate Edition with your specific hardware configuration. Here are a few troubleshooting steps and suggestions you can try to address this issue:

Potential Solutions:

  1. Update Graphics Drivers:
    • Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your ATI 9550 VGA card. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause performance issues.
    []Adjust Video Playback Settings:

It seems like you're experiencing a problem with high CPU usage when playing videos on Windows Vista Ultimate Edition with your specific hardware configuration. Here are a few troubleshooting steps and suggestions you can try to address this issue:

    []Adjust Video Playback Settings:

    ]Check for Background Processes:
    • Check for any background processes that might be consuming CPU resources. Close any unnecessary programs running in the background.
    []System Performance Settings:
    • Adjust the system performance settings in Windows Vista. You can access these settings by right-clicking on "Computer" > "Properties" > "Advanced system settings" > "Performance Settings". Choose the option for best performance or customize settings accordingly.
    [
    ]Disable Unnecessary Visual Effects:
    • Disable unnecessary visual effects in Windows Vista to reduce the load on the CPU. You can access these settings in "Performance Options" under "System Properties".
    []Codec Issues:
    • Ensure that the codecs used for video playback are up-to-date. Incompatible or outdated codecs can sometimes cause high CPU usage during video playback.
    [
    ]Hardware Acceleration:
    • Experiment with enabling or disabling hardware acceleration in the video playback software settings.
  2. System Memory Upgrade:
    • Considering upgrading your system memory to at least 2 GB. This can improve overall system performance and help reduce CPU usage during media playback.

      Additional Notes:

      • Windows Vista Ultimate Edition might not be optimized for older hardware configurations compared to Windows XP. It could be a compatibility issue with your specific setup.
      • If these steps do not resolve the problem, you might consider using a lightweight media player that is less resource-intensive.
Try these suggestions and see if any of them help improve the performance when playing videos on Windows Vista. Let me know if you need further assistance or if you have any other questions!
