Windows remote assistance works great! Unfortunately I have not been able to use the "Easy Connect" feature lately. I used the Easy Connect before, but one day it shows as I can't.

I have uninstalled all applications that I installed when it occurred, updated all drivers, ran the Windows 7 auto fix feature, but nothing will bring back my Easy Connect!

Computer specifications:
Motherboard: Intel DX58SO
CPU: Intel Core i7 920 @ 4.0Ghz (200x20)
RAM: OCZ Gold 3x2GB @1600mhz 8-8-8-24
LAN: Integrated Intel
Video Card: Sapphire ATI Radeon HD5970 2GB @ 875/1200 (725/1000 stock)
Sound Card: Creative Labs Soundblaster X-Fi
Hard Drives: 2x Western Digital Caviar Black 640Gb in RAID0
Windows 7 ultimate x64

I am using a D-Link DIR-615 router.

Like I said, it worked before, then *poof* gone. Does anyone know of any services that have to be running, or ports I need to forward?

I tried to forward 135 TCP and 3389 TCP and still no dice.

Thanks!

It seems like you are facing an issue with the Easy Connect feature in Windows Remote Assistance. The disappearance of a previously working feature can be frustrating, but there are several steps we can take to troubleshoot this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem with Easy Connect: 1. Check Easy Connect Settings: - Go to Control Panel -> System and Security -> Windows Firewall. - Click on "Allow a program through Windows Firewall" on the left pane. - Look for "Remote Assistance" in the list of programs. Ensure that it is checked for both Private and Public networks. 2. Check Remote Assistance Settings: - Go to Control Panel -> System and Security -> System. - Click on "Remote...

Check Remote Assistance Settings: - Go to Control Panel -> System and Security -> System. - Click on "Remote settings" on the left pane. - Make sure that "Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer" is checked. 3. Verify Dependencies and Services: - Press Win + R, type "services.msc" and hit Enter. - Ensure that the following services are running: - Remote Desktop Services - Remote Desktop Configuration - Remote Desktop Services UserMode Port Redirector 4. Check Firewall and Port Forwarding: - Ensure that Windows Firewall is not blocking the required ports. You mentioned forwarding ports 135 and 3389; these are necessary for Remote Assistance. - Also, make sure that your router is correctly forwarding these ports to your computer. Verify the port forwarding settings on your D-Link DIR-615 router. 5. Network Configuration: - Ensure that both the host and the client are on the same network or that appropriate network configurations are in place if they are on different networks. 6. Update Network Drivers: - Verify that your LAN drivers on the Intel DX58SO motherboard are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause connectivity issues. 7. Check for Software Conflicts: - Ensure that there are no conflicting software or security applications that might be blocking the connection. After performing these steps, try using the Easy Connect feature again to see if the issue is resolved. If the problem persists, let me know, and we can explore further troubleshooting steps.
