Windows 7 windows 7 repair loop

Ok so I'm using windows 7 and last night it shut down on me for no reason.... now it just keeps doing this repair loop so I can't get to my desktop. I tried a system restore which it said it completd successfully but it actually didn't. I can't boot in safe mode or anything! Please help!!

Do you have a recovery CD or install DVD so you can boot into the WinRE environment. I will assume you ran the system restore from that environment.

A startup repair might help since it runs a system file check. Using last known good configuration replaces the registry, so it might help, but startup repair does that also, I believe.

Do you remember if you noticed any Windows updates that were going to be installed?
