Hello

Ive had this problem since the last windows 7 update that the OS wont recognize my screen, it is listed as a "generic non-pnp monitor" in the "screen resolution" interface, ive found different threads describing this issue on Vista and how to deal with it:

Generic Non-PnP Monitor - Microsoft Windows Vista Community Forums - Vistaheads

and

Generic PnP Monitor and Screen Resolution - Microsoft Windows Vista Community Forums - Vistaheads

But none of these solutions has worked for me so far. im basically at my wits end. Ive tried uninstalling my former RC edition and installing an ultimate edition i got from my schools MSDN network. Ive been uninstalling and reinstalling drivers for the last few hours, but i havnt found any solutions. Is any able to help me.

If this issue has been solved in another thread, then please link me to it, i havnt been able to find it via the search.

Edit:

i forgot to write about the problem itself appereantly >_<

my monitor will only run low resolution, 1024x720 and below, whereas the native resolution is 1680x1050, until last night i was able to.

Hello Seth, It seems like you are facing an issue where Windows 7 is not recognizing your monitor properly, listing it as a "generic non-PnP monitor" and limiting the resolution to 1024x720 and below instead of the native resolution of 1680x1050. Since the solutions for similar issues on Vista didn't work for you, here are some additional steps you can try to resolve this problem: 1. Update Graphics Drivers: - Make sure you have the latest graphics drivers installed for your graphics card. You can download the drivers from the manufacturer's website. 2. Driver Cleanup: - Perform a thorough cleanup of your graphics drivers using a tool like Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU). This will remove any remnants of old drivers before...

Driver Cleanup: - Perform a thorough cleanup of your graphics drivers using a tool like Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU). This will remove any remnants of old drivers before installing the latest ones. 3. Check Hardware Connections: - Ensure that the cable connecting your monitor to the computer is securely plugged in. Try using a different cable or port on your graphics card. 4. Monitor Settings: - On your monitor, check if there are any settings related to input sources or resolution settings. Make sure it is set to the correct input source. 5. Device Manager: - In the Device Manager, right-click on the "Generic Non-PnP Monitor" and choose "Update driver." Select the option to search for drivers automatically. 6. Custom Resolution: - You can try creating a custom resolution using the graphics card control panel. This may help in forcing the correct resolution. 7. Windows Update: - Check for any pending Windows updates as they may contain fixes for such issues. 8. Third-party Tools: - Some third-party tools like Custom Resolution Utility (CRU) can also help in setting up custom resolutions. If none of these steps work and the issue persists, it might be worth contacting the manufacturer of your monitor or graphics card for further assistance. If you need more specific guidance or if the issue persists after trying these steps, feel free to provide more details so I can assist you further.
