So last night I couldn't sleep and decided to log back onto my Acer to surf the web when I found 32-bit IE didn't work. It locks up instantly and can only be closed by ending the process from the process list in the task manager. 64-bit IE still works. Firefox and Opera both don't work. I'd be fine with hanging out on 64-bit IE but I waste a lot of time on youtube and there is sadly no flash support for 64-bit IE.

Did a scan with Avast antivirus (Latest definitions, clean.), ran windows update, current on all updates. Computer is an Acer Aspire 5517 (CPU: 1.60 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core TK-42, OS: Windows 7 home premium)

Hello and welcome to the Windows 7 Forums :)
Try running "internet explorer (No Addons)" from the start menu, if this works, try investigating to see which of your addons may be causing problems.
