In DOS batch scripts under Windows 7 there was a function "timeout" which stops the execution for n seconds.
This command seems to be replaced by "sleep" in DOS batch scripts under Win10.
Is this true?

Ever wanted a recycle bin in your taskbar? Like Mac OS X? Well here is the clearest tutorial I can give you.
Step 1 : Unlock taskbar if not locked.
Step 2 : Make a new folder where ever you want. (I put mine under C)
Step 3 : Name the folder something that you can remember. (I put mine to...
I don't know what happened, but Cortana no longer responds. Neither does clicking on the search box. I haven't made any tweaks to the computer, so it just happened on its own. I think she's been down several days now. What gives?
Upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 at Microsoft suggestion. Everything fine for a while. Then lost 'start' button - lost programmes list and had to right click to turn off. Somehow the button started working again (Microsoft update?). Again everything fine for a while.
1. Have now lost 'start'...

Hello:
The functions within a text in Microsoft Edge or IE 11, using SHIFT + ARROW DOWN or SHIFT + END, worked well, selecting the text line by line or selecting the text until the end.
From about one or two months month these functions do not work anymore.
For example in Word ou other...

Hi. In Windows 10, the file search available on the toolbar only searches for text strings in the order you write it in the box i.e. if you write 'garrett higgins', it will NOT find any files in which those words appear in a different order or, indeed, separately. Can i change the settings to...
Just took my Windows 10 Laptop out of the house for the first time. I am so used to 7 and hovering the connection in the notification tray for IP address and connection speed I was surprised not to find this. And then more surprised not to be able to find some utility to regain this...

My keyboard has the special Browser_Search key (usually has a magnifying glass symbol) and I'd like to override that function to map it to whatever I want.
Does windows have any way to re-map a special key like this?
I need to have my taskbar at the top of my screen but is it possible to make it so I can not drag a window behind it? Several times I have had to autohide the task bar just to get at the window to drag it back again.
Kind Regards, Paul
I was bored and decided to look at the GodMode shortcut. For those of you that don't know what that is I'll explain. It's basically a folder shortcut with a special CLSID extension. CLSID is short for Class ID. The godmode shortcut will display a lot of settings available in the Control...
I found an interesting file for Cortana. It appears to be a very large list of commands some look like they have been collected from users computers. I would be curious to edit some of the most likely used commands such as Open Mail.
The file is here...
Hi
I've complained about Cortana not playing my music, and not knowing where I live no matter how many times I tell her.
But this is a new one, the one thing that she would always do was tell me a joke.
Now whenever I ask her to tell me a joke she just opens a web page about jokes, there is...

Hi
Here's another example of why I hate apps!
I decided to try the 7Zip Opener app, I always use 7-Zip anyway and maybe the app will make it easy to use.
It's very easy to start with.
So I install the app, (now with the normal desktop version of 7-Zip you just right click on the .zip or .rar...

Hello guys.
I installed Windows 10 a few weeks ago and generally paid no attention to it as I was busy playing videogames. I checked to see what I could do just yesterday and I am pretty frustrated as when I click on Search the web and Windows, nothing shows us and it's just that the default...

In Windows 10, we've made it exceedingly easy to add "Drag and Drop" functionality to your UWP application.
As you're probably aware, "drag and drop" is by no means a new feature for Windows applications. For a very long time, the notion for the user to able to move objects within a single...
