After a refresh of Windows I cleaned the system files. Do I need to delete the Windows.old folder too?

Windows 7 Pro SP1. Customize Start Menu option 'Recent Items' IS checked. Nothing shows up in C:\Users\Me\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent. Anyone got any ideas as to where to start looking? Maintenance is current. TIA for any help received. Bob Helms
