I have this monitor: Link Removed
The specs show an SPDIF out and is supposed to pass the digital signal through as long as it is connected via the HDMI cable.
The problem is, however, when I connect it to my 5.1 digital speaker system, which has a built in decoder, it shows that the...
I have a Dell Latitude D630 and Windows 8. The generic Windows sound driver made the sound for the laptop run, but not with the docking station. I installed the Sigmatel drivers for Windows Vista 32bit. They also worked for me on Windows 7. First, they didn't wanna install, but then I made a...

Onboard sound, only digital output (SPDIF) is used!
No problem if going through WASAPI, AC3 and DTS are fine too.
But if I play stereo audio (even fixed at 16bit) through directsound or waveout, random noises are poping out from time to time. Audio driver and MB bios updated!

Don't think i can call it a problem, more of an annoyance. I have installed the new 64 bit drivers from realtek for windows 7 and for some reason the spdif output is only activated when a sound is played, so whatever sound is played gets the begging cut off. Never had this problem with XP.
