I have this very weird problem in which the 'Notification Area Icons' Window automatically pops up right after Windows Boots. Usually it shows after a minute or so after windows boots. Even if i keep my computer idle it shows up automatically (but only following a boot). This is irritating me...
I have mostly windows 7 computers that all show on the network map. One of my computers is running XP Pro sp3 and is not displayed with the rest of the network on the main part of the map, but all alone below the main section. How can I get this computer to display on the main section of the map?
I have set up a main administrator account on 7 Pro. This was done when installing the o/s, however I would now like to change the user account name and all folders/directories etc., computer name relating to it.
What's the best way to remove all traces of the old name?

For heavens sake Gates - I moved...

My intent over the next couple of months is to build a new computer. It will be relatively fast, have plenty of memory and storage space. My original plan was to migrate my existing XP Pro 32 Bit installation (what I intend to continue using in general) to the new hardware and then eventually...
I just received my new computer with win7 and so far so good. One thing that is troubling is that the task bar will not auto-hide, even though it is selected. If I deselect it, apply, then select it and apply, it will drop down and come right back up.
With programs like media player and...

Hey guys, I myself have a problem that sounds simple but I can't seem to figure out.
The question is simple. The "My Computer" icon is missing from my desktop. It's also missing from the Administrator account and I can't get it show either on any new account that I create. I use here at home...
I could use some advice on using preparing a Windows 7 Pro image using Ghost GSS 2.5. I have downloaded a demo of GSS 2.5 to test.
I have used BartPE and Ghost 8.3 to image hundreds of machines running XP Pro for years without fail, but this Windows 7 process has my head spinning.
Am I forced...
My Win7 64bit machines take up to 30-60 sec to recognize other devices on a wired gigabit network. Then, additional time to open a device’s HDD. But, once that is done, I can open sub-folders and xfer files around lightning fast. (Sometimes, I can’t find other devices at all w/o multiple...
Wondering if anybody can help me?
I am using Windows XP Mode within Windows 7 Professional. I have been trying to de-install and then reinstall some software (ProTools 7.3, though this is probably not relevant to my question).
When I go to reinstall the software, I get a message saying "A...
Recently I've noticed certain websites will fade darker as I scroll down while remaining light on top, as if a dark overlay is on top. I cannot figure out how to disable this. I recently upgraded my graphics card which is around the time this started happening.
I am using Windows 7 64 bit Pro.
I'm working with 7 Pro.
I've had my start menu setup in such a way since Win95 and I'm trying to accomplish the same thing here in 7.
Rather than having multiple folders off to the right side of the start menu I've always listed all of my programs above the divider on the left. Above shutdown...
My main PC is HP d5000t Windows 7 Ultimate. I've noticed that the network map doesn't work properly. I have 2 real PCs with XP home SP3 and Virtual machines with Windows 7, Vista and, XP Pro. The only way the network map works is if my old Dell is running Then everything shows on network except...
Has anyone run across this problem? Got latest 80200053 from KB982670, description says it's for .NET Framework. Also have a problem with KB982134 for MS Office 2003 resulting in the same 80200053 Error Code. Both issues appeared during normal Windows Update. No impact to W7 Pro x64 system...
I am receiving a BSOD. When the stop error first started appearing it left before I could read what it said. I have since found out the error says:
