Windows 7 BSOD Causing Repeated Restarts- Unable to Use Laptop

My Lenovo laptop had been working fine without any issues for about a year. All of a sudden, I keep receiving a BSOD every few minutes related to the win32k.sys file. The BSOD happens randomly, sometimes within a minute of restarting the computer or sometimes within an hour. Because of this unpredictability, I cannot use my laptop because I don't know when it will crash and cause the files I am working on to become lost.

I ran the Windows diagnostic tool which shows up during boot-up and tested the memory to see if that was the issue, but that test came back clean.

Please let me know if additional information is needed (besides the basic requirements, which have been attached), and thanks in advance for any help.

Most of the memory dumps are Driver Verifier Enabled. Please turn Driver Verifier off. To do this, open up verifier.exe and select "Delete existing settings", then click on "Finish" and reboot for the changes to take affect.

This driver shows up frequently in the raw stack text. As such, I'd suggest un-installing the Lenovo Rapid Boot program to see if that helps:

Hi usasma and thanks for the response.

1) Regarding the "reports" needed to be run for help with BSODs, I actually read that thread/post and followed the instructions before including that zip file, so could you please be more specific as to what is missing? I believe everything has been included.

2) How would I find what programs are responsible for the smihlp.sys, nusb3xhc.sys, nusb3hub.sys drivers? I do not see them in the list of "Add/Remove" programs to uninstall in the control panel.

I would like to work on these steps first before going to hardware diagnostics. Thanks again.

Specifically the MSINFO32.nfo report and the systeminfo.txt reports are missing.
This is a common issue that we experience, and running the app a second time usually fixes it.

As for the 3 drivers in RED, click on the links that I provided with them - that'll take you to a page (at my website) that has a link to the download site.
The first one, smihlp.sys is a part of the UPEK Protector Suite that likely came with your system. Download it from their website
The other 2 drivers (NEC Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller) are most easily gotten at the PC manufacturer's website - but in some cases they may not be updated, so I included a link to the manufacturer's website. I've also been able to find updated versions at other PC manufacturer's websites (using Google/Bing searches).

If you're unable to locate them, please post back with the exact make/model of your laptop so that I can look it up at the manufacturer's website. I will look at both the downloads page - and the specifications page in order to figure out if the latest driver is available there or from another website.

1) Zip up the files in C:\Windows\Minidumps and upload them with your next post.

2) Please also provide this report:

MSINFO32:
Please go to Start and type in "msinfo32.exe" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Save the report as an .nfo file, then zip up the .nfo file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
Also, save a copy as a .txt file and include it also (it's much more difficult to read, but we have greater success in getting the info from it).

If you're having difficulties with the format, please open an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt and type "msinfo32 /nfo C:\Users\Public\Desktop\TEST.NFO" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Then navigate to the C:\Users\Public\Desktop directory to retrieve the TEST.NFO file. If you have difficulties with making this work, please post back.

3) Please provide this info also:
- open Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).
