Is it possible to change explorers WMP thumbnails for video? It seems to do about 3 seconds into the video.

Which means my TV show collection just shows me the intro scene to the show for all the videos. So thumbnails is quite useless, what would be great if it was 50% or so...

So my question is, can you change this Beauvoir?

Yes, you can change the thumbnails that Windows Explorer displays for video files. By default, Windows Explorer generates these thumbnails based on a specific time point within the video, typically a few seconds into the video. If you want to customize these thumbnails to show a different scene, you can do so with the help of third-party tools or by manually creating thumbnail images. 1. Media Preview: Media Preview is a tool that allows you to configure how Windows displays thumbnails for video files. You can adjust settings such as the frame capture time and thumbnail generation. This tool can help you set custom thumbnails for your video files.
  2. Thumbnail Generator Software: There are various thumbnail generator software available that let you set specific frames as thumbnails for your videos. These tools typically allow you to choose the desired frame or extract a frame from the video as a thumbnail.

    Manually Setting Thumbnails:

  3. Create Custom Thumbnails: You can manually create custom thumbnail images by selecting the desired frame from the video using video editing software or screenshot tools. Once you have the frame you want, save it as an image file (like JPG or PNG).
  4. Replace Thumbnail Image: After creating the custom thumbnail, you can replace the existing thumbnail within the video file. Tools like VLC Media Player allow you to set custom thumbnails for videos, which are then reflected in Windows Explorer.

    Note:

    • Ensure that you have backups of your video files before making any changes.
    • Changes made to video thumbnails may not be instantly reflected in Windows Explorer. You might need to refresh the folder view or rebuild the thumbnail cache to see the updated thumbnails.
By using these methods, you can customize the thumbnails displayed in Windows Explorer for your video collection, providing a more visually appealing and informative representation of your TV shows.
