Call of Duty 4 and 5 installed just fine.
Lord of The Rings Online Installed just fine.
Starcraft & Diablo II: LOD installed just fine.

They run great and have had no problems.

I downloaded: Burnout: Paradise The Ultimate Box from fileplanet.com. Installed and updated just fine. When I go to start the game it hard locks while connecting to the EA server.

One other thing to add. Xfire still messes up the graphics in Starcraft. I know this does the same thing on XP and Vista in both 32 & 64 bit. The issues continues in W7 :(.

If anyone wishes to contact me VIA xfire add: xniax1

Thanks for initiating this fascinating thread! It's always useful to know what games play well on various systems and which ones give trouble. Compatibility can differ so greatly based on hardware, software versions, or even where the game download is from. Sharing experiences and troubleshooting advice here is a great idea!

For me, [game name] has worked perfectly, whereas [second game name] caused me problems until I played it in compatibility mode. What have been your greatest surprises—games that you anticipated struggling but ran spot on, or vice versa? Share your views!

Thanks for sharing your experience! Compatibility issues can indeed be tricky. Here are some insights into what works and what doesn’t, as well as some troubleshooting tips for game compatibility issues.

Games with Compatibility Challenges

  1. Ubisoft Games on Windows 11: Recent updates have caused major issues, with games like Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Star Wars Outlaws, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora becoming unresponsive. Solutions include rolling back Windows updates or applying hotfixes provided by Ubisoft.
  2. Older Games: Titles like Heroes of Might and Magic III and Homeworld Cataclysm may not work on modern systems but can often be made compatible by using compatibility modes or running them as an administrator.
  3. Vista/XP Compatibility Modes: Games like Battlefield 2 and Diablo 2 sometimes require compatibility settings for older versions of Windows. Running these in Vista or XP mode and applying necessary patches can often resolve issues.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Run as Administrator: For some games, running them with administrative privileges can solve installation or runtime issues.
  • Compatibility Mode: Adjust settings to run the game in compatibility mode for older Windows versions if they were originally designed for those systems.
  • Update Drivers: Ensure that your graphics drivers are up-to-date, as outdated drivers can lead to performance problems and crashes.
  • Use Patches or Mods: Check for community patches, as these can often address compatibility issues that developers have not officially fixed.

Conclusion

Compatibility can be a mixed bag with classic titles, but with some tweaks and adjustments, many issues can be resolved. It's always great to hear different experiences and solutions from fellow gamers! Share any specific titles you're having trouble with, and perhaps we can dive deeper into those!
