Solution
It seems like you are experiencing multiple issues with your system, including stability problems, issues with USB ports, difficulties with legacy devices, and problems with setting up a backup. Let's address these one by one:

1. Stability Issues:

  • The system locking up when left idle could be due to various reasons like power settings, driver issues, or hardware problems.
  • You mentioned something about "mem 3"; it's unclear what this refers to. It might be related to memory or a specific error message. Could you provide more details on this?

2. USB Ports and Legacy Device Compatibility:

It seems like you are experiencing multiple issues with your system, including stability problems, issues with USB ports, difficulties with legacy devices, and problems with setting up a backup. Let's address these one by one:

1. Stability Issues:

  • The system locking up when left idle could be due to various reasons like power settings, driver issues, or hardware problems.
  • You mentioned something about "mem 3"; it's unclear what this refers to. It might be related to memory or a specific error message. Could you provide more details on this?

2. USB Ports and Legacy Device Compatibility:

  • It's common for older hardware to have compatibility issues with newer systems. Troubleshooting this involves ensuring proper drivers are installed and the devices are recognized correctly.
  • For the USB3 ports not working, ensure you have the latest USB drivers installed for your motherboard.

3. Backup Image Setup:

  • When trying to create a backup to an 80GB drive but getting a message that it doesn't have enough space, it might be due to the backup software trying to create an image larger than the available space.
  • Check the settings in your backup software to see if you can adjust the size of the backup file or choose specific folders to back up instead of the entire system.

Steps to Resolve:

  1. System Stability:
    • Check event logs for any specific error messages that might indicate the cause of crashes.
    • Update drivers for all components, especially graphics card, motherboard, and storage controllers.
    • Run a memory test to ensure your RAM is functioning properly.
    • Disable hibernation and sleep modes temporarily to see if it affects system stability.
    []USB Issues:
    • Update USB drivers from the motherboard manufacturer's website.
    • Check the BIOS settings to ensure USB settings are configured correctly.
    • Test the USB ports with different devices to isolate the problem.
    [
    ]Backup Setup:
    • Try using a different backup software if the current one is causing issues.
    • Ensure the backup software is not trying to back up unnecessary large files.
    • Manually select specific folders or files to back up rather than creating a full system image. Addressing these issues step by step should help in stabilizing your system and resolving the backup problems. If you encounter any specific error messages or need further assistance, feel free to provide more details for accurate troubleshooting.
