Hi Guys,

I have a problem with homegroup that someone I hope can help. I reinstalled my main PC, a total wipe etc. When it came to name the PC I took the offering of DAVID-PC, however the previous install I had called the PC DAVE-PC.

Now when I try to create a homegroup it tells me that DAVE-PC has already created a homegroup and would I like to join, but DAVE-PC no longer exists.

Can someone tell me how to get rid of this now imaginary PC from the system because I cant create a new one either on the main PC, laptop or my TV PC

I have tried disconnecting from all for them but no joy.

Hope that makes sense

Regards

Hey Basher;
How's it going.
Is it possible that the other network nodes have not chosen to leave the previous HomeGroup (DAVE-PC) it's possible that something has the whole HomeGroup issue confused with remnants left somewhere somehow. I have found when you have problems with HomeGroups it's generally a good idea to start over from the beginning. Have a look at this article and see if it helps.
If you set the homegroup up on the computer you just wiped, where might the information be stored?

Is there anything in your router that might store such things?

Could it be stored in one of the other computers?

Have you tried leaving the homegroup from both of the other systems?

If you go to the Homegroup panel in the Control Panel, there is a troubleshooter.

Hey Trouble dude;

Its going great thanks - apart from a bit more work wouldn't go amiss

The homenetwork has sorted its self out - I came back to the PC and it was waiting for me to create a new one.

Thanks guys for the input - much appreciated, love this forum, wish I could spend more time here. Keep up the good work chaps.
